Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they take viewers back to some of their favourite wining, dining and good-time destinations, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Shane Delia is on Hardware Lane in the city (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), taking in the excellent range of food venues on offer while soaking up the European atmosphere. Starting with a top brew at MAKER Coffee on the corner of Little Bourke Street, he heads to The Hardware Club, a cosy Italian restaurant serving up modern Mediterranean flavours and Italian beverages. After lunch he stops for dessert at Piccolina Gelateria and ends his afternoon with a drink at Kirk’s Wine Bar.
Madeline Spark is in Collingwood (also Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). After starting at Falco Bakery on Smith Street she finds Pepite, a small gallery with a beautiful selection of contemporary design objects, before heading to the Hinoki Japanese Pantry to stock up on Japanese groceries and snack on succulent sushi.Â
Lauren Phillips takes viewers to Docklands (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung Country). After coffee and loaded panini at the Italian eatery Saluministi, she walks across Webb Bridge and settles in at The Espressonist for brunch and a cocktail. To burn off some calories, she has a hit at Game4Padel, Melbourne’s first courts for padel tennis, which is played on a smaller court with different rules, strokes and techniques.
Meanwhile, guest presenter Yvie Jones showcases some of the most interesting places in Chapel Street (also Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung Country).
First she visits the Astor Theatre, the last single-screen cinema in Melbourne. For a bite and a beverage she chooses Borsch Vodka and Tears, a venue specialising in Polish vodka, then rounds off her walk at the renowned Chapel off Chapel theatre.
