Brodie Harper makes a scenic escape to Woodend (Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), in the Macedon Ranges. After a walk along the picturesque Five Mile Creek Track she meets the dedicated volunteers of Woodend Landcare, who help to preserve the region’s natural beauty.
Next, Brodie indulges in a vibrant Mexican feast at Las Margaritas, where the flavours and vegan-friendly options steal the show. She rounds off the day at Gindu, a boutique cellar door serving up award-winning, locally crafted gins paired with delicious bush tapas.
Lauren Phillips enters the heart of Albert Park (Boonwurrung Country). She starts at the local charmer, Bisbas Hardware, a family-run store that’s been part of the community for decades.
From there she’s into retail therapy at AS IF Designer Recycle, a boutique offering luxury fashion with a sustainable twist. For a bite to eat, Lauren heads to Andrews Hamburgers, a local institution serving up mouthwatering burgers since 1939. She ends up at Wally’s Albert Park, a European-inspired wine bar where seasonal small plates and an impressive wine list create a perfect setting to unwind.
Madeline Spark explores the lush Currumbin Valley just south of the Gold Coast (Bundjalung Country). There she meets fourth-generation farmer David Freeman at the family-run Freeman’s Organic Farm, where they have been growing seasonal produce for nearly 110 years. Next, she checks out the incredible camping set-up that is up for grabs through Mater Cars for Cancer, then to learn more about the worthy cause, Maddie stops by Pasture & Co café to meet breast cancer patient Louise Bennet, and learn how Louise’s life has been changed by Mater’s research.
And Livinia Nixon shops and dines up a storm along Bridge Road in Richmond (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country).
First up, she checks out House of Handmade and meets Stef Panaccio, the creative owner whose passion for all things handmade and local led to this beautifully curated store. She then heads to Cookatoo Kitchen for some delicious Thai-inspired vegan food, before ending her day at the Mount View Hotel.
