Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they wakeboard, bike ride and eat their way around Melbourne, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Guest presenter Michael Teng trades Travel Guides for Postcards to explore Patterson Lakes (Boonwurrung Country). First, he enjoys a feed at Tomboys Canteen in Chelsea Heights. Then he’s off to Melbourne Cable Park for an adrenaline fix, hitting the waves wakeboarding. After all that action, and a game of mini golf, he ends his day at The Cove Hotel with a porterhouse steak and fries.
Madeline Spark is on her bike cycling the Diamond Creek Trail from Eltham to Hurstbridge (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Before she begins, she pops by one of Melbourne’s oldest commercial orchards, Petty’s Orchard in Templestowe, for some of the moreish baked goodies at their cafe. Maddie then makes a start on her bike ride and along the way stops at the Diamond Creek Bike Shop to meet the owner, Malcolm Standish. After an epic trip, she refuels at Langan’s in Hurstbridge.Â
Livinia Nixon is in the CBDÂ (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) checking out some cool new spots. Her day begins with a coffee at The Tram Cafe, a fully restored W-class tram outside William Angliss Institute that dishes out lattes for just $3.60.
A ten-minute walk down the road, she finds foodie heaven at the Queen Victoria Market’s new Queen Food Hall where she checks out all the different cuisine on offer before winding down at the narrm nagarrgu Library, a tranquil new space in the market precinct.
Meanwhile, we find Todd Woodbridge in Sunbury (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) learning about the town’s history and catching up with the locals. His first stop is the 8 Oaks cafe, where he digs into tasty corn fritters over a chat with owner Sam D’Angelo. He then checks out the 150-year-old Ball Court Hotel which has just reopened after a massive renovation.
