Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now (24 November) – Join the Postcards team this week as Brodie Harper takes a trip to Ireland, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Guided by Tourism Ireland, Brodie begins in County Donegal at historic Lough Eske Castle, which is now a five-star luxury hotel. Next, she heads towards the coast to the Donegal Equestrian Centre where she takes in the rugged beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way on horseback before getting on the water with Sliabh Liag Boat Tours, to take in a stunning perspective of the Sliabh Liag Cliffs, Ireland’s tallest sea cliffs.Â
We then venture an hour north-west to Glenveagh National Park by way of the small town of Kilmacrennan for a coffee. On reaching Glenveagh Castle & Gardens, Brodie chats to Mary Gallagher who has been working at the castle for over 20 years, then ends the day kayaking and enjoying the rugged wilderness of the area with Eco Atlantic Adventure.Â
After a few days of exploring the Republic of Ireland, Brodie crosses the border into Northern Ireland along the Antrim Coast, where she visits Giant’s Causeway, the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the historical Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.
The day ends with an Irish whisky at the oldest licensed whisky distillery in the world, Old Bushmills.
Brodie’s trip ends with a jam-packed itinerary full of fun in and around Belfast, the vibrant capital of Northern Ireland. She visits the Ulster Folk Museum in Cultra before exploring Finebough Woods where she learns about ancient bush craft and wild cooking techniques. Then she waves goodbye to Ireland dancing to Celtic tunes as she takes the Belfast Trad Music Trail tour.Â
