The pride, power and passion of the NRL Indigenous All Stars and Maori All Stars will fire up the footy for 2023 on Channel 9HD and 9Now, from tomorrow at 12.00pm AEST.
In an Indigenous All Stars squad dripping with talent, South Sydney Rabbitohs superstars Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker, plus the reigning Dally M medal winner for the best player in the game, Nicho Hynes, will line up to represent their heritage in what promises to be an enthralling encounter.
Standing in their way will be a Maori All Stars squad pumped up to play for the first ever time on home soil, where fearsome forwards James Fisher-Harris and Joseph Tapine will be out to inspire their mento defend their title.
Indigenous All Stars captain and assistant coach, Cody Walker, said:
“This game is such a special one for us as players because it allows us to reconnect with our culture during the week and then go out and express that on the field.”
“With the freakish talents of Latrell, Selwyn Cobbo, Jack Wighton, Tyrell Sloan and Daine Laurie in our team, the fans will get to see the most exciting players in the NRL.
“The Maori people always have plenty of passion which we’ve witnessed through the build up this week in Rotorua, so we will need to step up and make sure we match that and do our culture and country proud to bring the trophy home with us.
“What we do out on the field we hope inspires the next generation of Australians to learn about First Nations culture, because this is more than a game.”
The Women’s Indigenous All Stars and the Maori All Stars will set the tone for the afternoon from 12.00pm AEST leading into the men’s fixture kicking off at 2.00pm AEST.
Featuring on Nine’s Wide World of Sports coverage of the 2023 All Stars fixture will be Billy Slater, Andrew Johns, Sonny Bill Williams, Johnathan Thurston, Ruan Sims, Danika Mason, James Bracey, Mat Thompson, Allana Ferguson and Peter Psaltis.
