My Way on Channel 9 – As the eighth season of My Way comes to a close, we head to Bundaberg where coast meets country and the locals are full of amazing flavour, this Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
What’s more Aussie than ripping the top off a cold Bundaberg ginger beer? The genius behind the famous brand is Cliff Fleming who, along with his wife, mother and father, started Bundaberg Brewed Drinks from the ground up, knowing nothing about brewing. Their ginger beer has now fostered the classic range of Aussie drink flavours we know today, as the success of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks transcends generations.
Bruce and Tina McPherson turned berries into bucks on their seaside property. It started out as a strawberry farm where visitors could pick their own berries.
But with too much produce left unpicked, they decided to do something with it and Tinaberries was born, a delicious, home-made ice cream. It was such a hit with the locals that Bruce and Tina expanded, adding other flavours to the menu. They say the secret ingredient is a love for each other and the community.
Master distiller Rick Prosser is behind the blending of some of the finest Australian rum, gin and vodka. Making the leap to launch his own Kalki Moon Distillery, Rick taught himself how to distil gin and vodka while his rum batches matured. With a passion for superior production standards, combined with the support of the community and his family, he is over the moon at Kalki’s success.
Finally, we meet Joey and Kirsty Rogers, who are at the hub of a community with their cafe, The Garden Mill. As Bundaberg locals, Joey and Kirsty pride themselves on sourcing their ingredients from local farmers, making them creative with cooking as they nurture their love for quality food. With a top team behind them and delicious food on the table, there’s no better place to eat out around these parts than The Garden Mill.
