Celebrate New Year’s Eve on Channel 9 Melbourne – Ring in 2025 with a night of glittering celebration as Channel 9 and 9Now present exclusive coverage of City of Melbourne’s New Year’s Eve 2024, from 11.00pm on Tuesday, December 31.

This year’s event will be hosted by Catriona Rowntree and Lehmo, making his debut as co-host for Melbourne’s premier New Year’s Eve celebration. The pulsating live broadcast will include exclusive access to the excitement of Melbourne’s renowned festivities.

From the Celebration Zones to key events across the city, viewers will enjoy interviews with performers, field reports from the heart of the action, and the infectious energy of Melbourne’s revellers as they count down to midnight.

Lord Mayor Nick Reece will join the hosts to share reflections on the past year and what lies ahead for the city in 2025. The Lord Mayor said: “As one of the first cities to cheer as the clock strikes midnight, we’ll be showing the rest of the world how it’s done. New Year’s is the biggest night of the year for our city – drawing in around half a million visitors and contributing more than $18.4 million into the local economy.”

Adding to the night’s charm, viewers will get a look back at Melbourne’s highlights of 2024 and be treated to a live music story featuring the Pierce Brothers. Plus a look at Melbourne’s newest cultural precinct, Korea Town, and tips on free and affordable activities to enjoy around the city.

Andrea Salmon, Director of Sales and Managing Director of Nine Melbourne, said:

“Channel 9 is delighted to once again partner with the City of Melbourne to bring audiences the energy, beauty and diversity of our remarkable city on its biggest night of the year. With Catriona and Lehmo at the helm, we look forward to giving viewers a front-row seat to all the action.”

Melbourne’s dazzling eight-minute fireworks display will be the highlight of the night, illuminating the skyline with vibrant colours and captivating patterns complemented by a synchronised laser show and a special soundtrack produced in partnership with Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren.

And the largest New Year’s Eve rooftop laser display in the Southern Hemisphere will take over Melbourne’s skyline, lighting up more than six square kilometres of the city on 27 skyscrapers.

Don’t miss Melbourne’s most spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration yet, only on Channel 9 and 9Now. Join us as we count down to 2025 in style!
