On Thursday night on Nine, hosts Eddie McGuire, Alicia Loxley, Clint Stanaway and The Sunday Footy Show team, including Tony Jones, Nathan Brown, Matthew Lloyd, Kane Cornes and Damian Barrett, joined forces for an evening packed with footy and entertainment to raise money for a great cause.
The My Room Grand Final Spectacular and Nine My Room Telethons since 2016 have now raised more than $21 million in donations over the past nine years. This year’s contributions will be directed to supporting family assistance, clinical care and also help to advance groundbreaking research and clinical trials to find a cure for childhood cancer, as well as improve the treatment outcomes for affected children.
The Sunday Footy Show team had the final word ahead of the AFL Grand Final and they met the brave children and families who receive support from My Room.
Special guests and My Room ambassadors showed their support on the night, including Blues captain and dual Brownlow Medallist Patrick Cripps, Collingwood young gun Nick Daicos, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and his team mate Cody Weightman, Essendon star Andrew McGrath and Hawthorn gun Will Day.
Some of My Room’s other ambassadors, including Michelle Payne, Lauren Phillips, Brody Mihocek and Nic Newman chipped in to take donations in the phone room and lend their support.
Viewers were treated to live performances from stars Cody Simpson and Emmanuel Kelly.
And Billy Brownless also made an appearance, joining punters in Crown Melbourne’s hottest spots.
Maurizio Marcocci, Chairman, and Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, thanked everyone for their support in a joint statement.
They said:
