ESPN brings two LIVE blockbuster NFL championship games back to back this Monday – with just four teams left in the hunt for a spot in Super Bowl LVII and the AFC and NFC Championships on the line.
The Mega Monday of NFL sees a LIVE NFL Playoff double-header, as the AFC and NFC Championship games decide the participants of Super Bowl LVII.
First up at 7am AEDT, sees the Philadelphia Eagles take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
A mouthwatering showdown between #1 and #2 this season in the NFC. The Eagles went 14-3 this season to finish top seed in the conference, with the 49ers just a game behind at 13-4.
The pair have brought their strong form into the playoffs, Philadelphia blitzing the New York Giants 38-7 in the divisional round to lock in their place in the NFC Championship showdown.
Philadelphia last reached the Super Bowl in 2018, winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy 41-33.
Many experts have had the Eagles penciled in as the NFC participant, and Philadelphia will need to deal with that expectation come Monday AEDT.
The NFC championship game is familiar surrounds for the 49ers. They reached the same stage last season, but were defeated 20-17 by the eventual Super Bowl champions, Los Angeles.
They were clinical in the division round, prevailing 19-12 against the Dallas Cowboys, led impressively once more by rookie QB Brock Purdy.
San Francisco previous Super Bowl appearance was in 2020, falling to Kansas City.
After the heartbreak of last season, 49ers fans will hope they can stop the high-flying Eagles.
Following at 10.30am AEDT, the AFC Championship game will see the Kansas City Chiefs collide with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kansas City and Cincinnati met in the AFC Championship game last season, where the pair produced an NFL playoff epic, which will live long in the memory of NFL fans.
The Bengals prevailed 27-24 in over-time, to secure their Super Bowl shot, where they would fall agonizingly short of glory against the Los Angeles Rams.
Cincinnati this year come in red hot, having won 10 straight games – the last an impressive 27-10 road win against the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round.
But again, standing in their way of another Super Bowl trip are Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City finished #1 in the AFC this season, courtesy of a 14-3 record.
Cincinnati were one of only three teams to defeat Kansas City this season on December 5, where they produced another spectacular showdown – the Bengals yet again winning 27-24.
The Chiefs downed Jacksonville 27-20 in the Divisional Round, and will now seek their third Super Bowl appearance in four years.
Quartbacks Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow will look to steer their respective sides to the AFC crown, in one of the most anticipated championship games in some time given the recent history between the two.
ESPN will have live coverage of Super Bowl LVII on Monday February 13.
