Marvellous Moomba on Channel 9 – Get ready to celebrate Melbourne’s favourite festival when Marvellous Moomba airs this Thursday, February 29 at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Hosted by Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort, this 9News Special will celebrate Moomba’s 70th year in style.
From its humble beginnings in 1955 to the cultural phenomenon it is today, we’ll take a deep dive into Moomba’s history and significance to Melbourne.
Viewers will be treated to interviews with Moomba royalty, both past and present, including Pete Helliar, Emma Memma and Nazeem Hussain.
Lucy Durack will take us on a nostalgic journey through Moomba’s past, giving us a peek into its evolution over the years.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp will provide an insight into Moomba’s impact on the city.
The broadcast will also offer a sneak peek of Moomba’s mouth-watering culinary offerings, while music lovers will enjoy a feature on ABBA tribute band Björn Again, who will rock the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on March 9.
A seasoned Birdman Rally contestant will showcase their gravity-defying stunts and we’ll feature a mesmerising performance from Wadaiko Rindo, a Japanese drumming troupe that will leave you spellbound.
Marvellous Moomba is a not-to-be-missed celebration of Melbourne’s spirit, creativity, and sense of community.
