beIN SPORTS Partners with The Sporting News to Drive Commercial Expansion in Australia and New Zealand

LALIGA in Spanish on beIN Sports ANZ

LALIGA in Spanish on beIN Sports ANZ – beIN MEDIA GROUP (‘beIN’) will broadcast LALIGA live and exclusively in Australia and New Zealand until the 26-27 season, and for the first time ever, fans in this region will have the option to enjoy the competition in Spanish.

Australia’s Spanish-speaking community, now exceeding 170,000 and growing by more than 21% in recent years, represents a great potential audience for the matches of the different EA SPORTS LALIGA clubs.

LALIGA EA SPORTS will be available in the region on any device via beIN SPORTS CONNECT, Amazon Prime Video or Fetch TV. While English will remain the primary language option, for the first time ever, fans can now enjoy matches in Spanish exclusively on the beIN SPORTS CONNECT service.

The agreement signed earlier this summer between LALIGA and beIN MEDIA GROUP extended LALIGA’s broadcasting rights and has made beIN SPORTS the home of Spanish football in 34 markets in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) until the end of the 2027-28 and 2026-27 seasons, respectively.

This agreement also reinforces the commitment of both entities to the fight against audiovisual fraud.

“We’re thrilled to bring LALIGA back to Australia and New Zealand, and we’re committed to elevating the fan experience like never before. Introducing Spanish commentary is just one of the ways we’re ensuring that our passionate audience can enjoy the matches in the language that resonates most with them. We can’t wait for fans to feel the full intensity and excitement of LALIGA in both English and Spanish on beIN SPORTS,”

– said John Armitage, Country Manager, Australia & New Zealand, beIN Asia Pacific.

”We are delighted to offer together with beIN SPORTS the option of enjoying LALIGA also in Spanish to the Spanish speaking community in Australia and New Zealand, a particularly important group in the region who are passionate about Spanish football,’ said Glen Rolls, LALIGA’s delegate in Australia and New Zealand.

An agreement beyond broadcasting which tackles audiovisual fraud

Audiovisual fraud is a scourge for the development of the audiovisual industry and the sports ecosystem, with a highly damaging impact on clubs, organisations, and broadcasters.

Thus, LALIGA and beIN have jointly undertaken initiatives to combat audiovisual fraud, such as legal actions in Morocco and Bahrain aimed at blocking illegal streaming websites in the former and dismantling an illegal IPTV service in the latter. As well, periodic administrative blockades have been taken jointly with other right holders in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Similarly, there is constant communication between both entities to report all cases in the HORECA channel (hotels, restaurants and cafeterias) in Spain where decoders with contracts from other countries are identified, to proceed with their deactivation.

The Anti-Piracy teams of LALIGA and beIN work closely to share intelligence information on common targets in the fight against piracy, new copyright regulations, and new piracy trends detected and are currently developing a joint project to combat those hosting services that do not process takedown requests (bulletproof hosting).
