India defeat Pakistan in final over ICC Men’s T20 World Cup thriller – World number one ranked T20 team India defeated archrivals Pakistan by 6 runs in a final over thriller in front of a packed out Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, as one of the sport’s most legendary rivalries played out in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan’s pace attack put on a show bowling India out for 119 runs, India’s lowest ever total against Pakistan in a T20 match. The pick of the bowlers included Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf who took 3 wickets a piece with Mohammad Amir taking a two-fer.
However, India were able to recover with bowling heroics from Jasprit Bumrah’s 3/14 to secure the win for India in the final moments of the match.
Rishabh Pant was the pick of the batters, narrowly missing out on his half century departing for 42 runs.
Australia who currently top the table for Group B will next take on Namibia on Wednesday 12 June at 10:30am (AEST) for their third game in the Group Stage. As one of the tournament favourites, Australia will be aiming to make history by becoming the first team to hold all three Men’s ICC trophies simultaneously, following their victories in the ICC World Test Championship Final and Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023.
