Good Friday Appeal on Channel 7 – Good Friday Appeal pulls out all the stops for the kids. Live this Friday on Channel 7 Melbourne and 7plus
The stars are aligning as some of the biggest names in Australian entertainment gather to raise money for The Royal Children’s Hospital, with the Good Friday Appeal set to be broadcast from this Friday, 29 March on Channel 7 in Melbourne and 7plus nationally.
This year marks the 67th year the Seven Network has broadcast the Good Friday Appeal, which has become an institution for Victorians. The event raises vital funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital and supports them to provide world-class paediatric medical care.
The fun starts early, as from 5.30am Sam Mac will be presenting Sunrise weather live from the hospital and Larry Emdur will be crossing live to The Morning Show from the hospital from 10.00am.
Peter Mitchell, Rebecca Maddern, Jane Bunn and Mike Amor from 7NEWS Melbourne will host a day broadcast from midday that celebrates the extraordinary work The Royal Children’s Hospital does every day.
The annual Good Friday AFL blockbuster takes centre stage from 4.00pm, when North Melbourne take on Carlton in the SuperClash at Marvel Stadium. Football’s #1 commentary team will bring fans all the action live and free from the ground.
From 7.30pm, The Chase Australia and The Morning Show’s Larry Emdur will host a jam-packed live night show, with help from Sunrise’s Mark Beretta at the Country Board and 7NEWS’ Paul Dowsley from the phone room.
ARIA Award winning singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell will be joined by a group of all-star Aussie performers including Kate Miller-Heidke from Seven’s The Voice, the 2024 winner of Australian Idol, Dylan Wright, and Mark Seymour and his daughter Eva. Peter Mitchell will once again take to the stage to perform a classic with help from Chong Lim and his band.
Panellists will include Sunrise’s Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, Edwina Bartholomew and Katie Brown, Dream Home host and Dancing With The Stars co-host Dr Chris Brown and 2024 Dancing With The Stars contestant and comedian Nikki Osborne, and The Chase Australia’s Goliath and Smiling Assassin.
Also doing their part to help the kids will be Home and Away’s Ada Nicodemou, James Stewart, Emily Weir, Matt Evans and Jessica Redmayne, 7NEWS’s Abbey Gelmi, 7AFL’s Abbey Holmes and Matthew Richardson and Farmer Joe from the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife.
The star-studded night will also include appearances from Chicago The Musical’s Zoë Ventoura and Peter Rowsthorn, as well as plenty of laughs from acclaimed comedians Ed Byrne, Nazeem Hussein, Ivan Aristeguieta, Christine Ryan, Bron Lewis and Claire Hooper.
Larry Emdur said:
“I’m ready to dance with Dr Chris Brown, I’m ready to wax Shirvo’s legs, I’m ready to sing Islands In The Stream with Nat Barr, I’m ready to mud wrestle with James Stewart or have a cartwheel competition with Ada Nicodemou, I’m ready to let comedian Nikki Osborne pluck my nasal hair and I’m prepared to have an arm wrestle with Goliath while Nikki plucks my nasal hair.
“Whatever I have to do to give people a massive night of fun, I will do. I’m beyond thrilled to be asked back to host the Good Friday Appeal and with all your favourite and most fun celebs, we’re aiming to break the fundraising record. But we’ll need your help.”
Managing Director Seven Melbourne, Lewis Martin, said:
“The Good Friday Appeal is a cause close to the hearts of many Victorians and part of the fabric of Seven Melbourne. It is our honour each year to work with our media partners at the Herald Sun to connect with the people of Victoria and play our part in raising vital funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital.
“This year’s broadcast is set to be our most special one yet and I want to thank everyone who is generously donating their time.”
Good Friday Appeal Executive Director, Rebecca Cowan said: “For 67 years, the Channel 7 Telethon has been a huge part of the Good Friday Appeal experience. We are so grateful to Channel 7, Lewis Martin, our Ambassadors Peter Mitchell and Rebecca Maddern, evening telethon host Larry Emdur, and all the other on-air hosts, reporters and performers and behind the scenes teams who give their time to ensure Victorians know about the incredible stories and impact of The Royal Children’s Hospital.
“This year’s Telethon will again be a celebration of the generosity of the community who want to make a difference for sick children and their families.”
