Manchester derby on Optus Sport – There are two footballing rivalries that transcend all others, and both will be adding the latest dramatic chapter to their storied histories this weekend as Manchester United take on Manchester City in the 191st Manchester Derby, while in LALIGA, the 255th El Clásico will see Barcelona host bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Estadio Olimpico.
Manchester United’s indifferent start to the season will be put to one side this weekend, as they prepare to welcome Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side who are currently gunning for their sixth title in the past seven seasons.
Between them, Barcelona and Real Madrid account for 62 LALIGA titles, such is the pair’s dominance, but for Real Madrid this season, their focus is squared on toppling reigning champions Barcelona, with this weekend’s clash providing a first opportunity to place a stake in the ground against their rivals.
The Manchester Derby will be played on Monday 30 October, with kick-off at 2:30am (AEST), and El Clásico will kick off at 1:15am (AEST) on Sunday 29 October. Both matches are live on Optus Sport, with eligible Optus customers able to enjoy an Optus Sport subscription for just $6.99 per month via Optus SubHub.
Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said,
“When the fixture lists are released at the start of every season, these are two that all football fans – regardless of their club affiliation – look out for.
“The Manchester Derby and El Clásico always serve up unmissable action and feature some of the world’s most exciting players and this year will be no different.
“And in an exciting footballing twist of fate, both of these matches are playing across one weekend in what will be a treat for football lovers across Australia.”
