This is Going to Hurt on ABC – Heartbroken Adam is living at Greg’s and trying to find a new flat. He tries to assure Greg that he’s feeling ok – maybe he’s better off without Harry.
To cover the costs of his expensive break-up, Adam does a locum shift in a private hospital. Though the private hospital appears lovely – nice lighting and gourmet food – when his private patient runs into problems after her delivery, Adam is furious to find just how ill-equipped the hospital is to deal with an emergency. He is forced to ferry the woman back to his own NHS hospital to try to save her life.
Meanwhile, Shruti is on nights on the NHS ward, and she seems to be functioning amazingly: she’s come on a long way since she started, saving the day during a difficult procedure, and even teaching another junior doctor along the way. But it’s all a front – with the mounting pressure of the job and her increasing isolation, Shruti secretly feels at rock bottom.
Despite his earlier assertions that he is totally fine on his own, when Adam faces a huge emotional blow, he finds that he’s not as self-sufficient as he thought, and desperately reaches out to Harry.
