Bluey on ABC Kids – The highly anticipated trifecta of new Bluey episodes – Ghostbasket, The Sign, and Surprise – were an unprecedented ratings success, reaching 3.4 million combined metro and regional viewers on broadcast alone* who tuned into ABC for even more of their beloved Bluey and her family.
The three episodes currently hold an Average Total Audience of 4.8 million* when including ABC iview audience.
Fans got their first taste of new Bluey since June 2023 with the premiere of Ghostbasket on Sunday, 7 April. The episode has now achieved an incredible Total Audience of over 6.2 million.*
The world premiere of 28-minute special, The Sign, marked a major viewing event on Sunday 14 April, with the episode achieving a tremendous Total TV National Reach of 4.4 million**, and a massive metro TV share of 54% on broadcast*.
The launch drove record numbers of daily viewing minutes for ABC Kids channel on ABC iview, with 50.3 million minutes viewed on premiere day.
It also set an all-time TV broadcast record for ABC Kids channel and a launch day record for ABC iview.*
Fans have been flocking to ABC iview to rewatch the much-loved special, with the Total Audience figure skyrocketing to 6.5 million, making The Sign the top ABC program of 2024YTD (ranked on Total Audience)*, and the highest ABC program of all time on ABC iview.*
On Sunday, fans were secretly gifted the brand-new episode Surprise. Word quickly spread about the new episode, with ABC iview figures climbing throughout the day to contribute to an overnight Total Audience of 1.5 million.*
ABC’s Biggest Ever Bluey campaign was supported by ABC Kids Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts, garnering results that reached over 4 million Australians. On the ABC Kids Facebook, the 43 pieces of Bluey content amassed a combined total of 1.3 million video views and actively engaged 245,000. On the ABC Kids Instagram, the 29 pieces of Bluey content amassed a combined total of 1.98 million video views and actively engaged 76,000 individual accounts.
On the ABC Kids YouTube, the five published #BiggestEverBluey YouTube pieces reached 75,000 views, and the 🐾 Bluey – Best Bits! 💙 playlist gained 1.6 million views.***
The campaign was further amplified when Bluey’s home was listed on Domain via an earned publicity opportunity, alongside broadcast. The listing was an instant success with 735,000 views of the listing, over 2.8 million engagement with the listing photos of the Heelers home, and over 18,000 people saving and sharing the listing.
Fans were thrilled to be able to contact “real estate agent” Bucky Dunstan, voiced by Rove McManus, with the most in-demand agent receiving over 120,000 enquires (email, SMS and phone calls).****
