2024 AACTA Industry Awards winners – Hosted by entertainment icon Harry Connick Jr., the AACTA Industry Awards after another high-quality year of Australian screen content, Talk to Me, The Australian Wars, Deadloch and The Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart walked away as the big winners of the night.

The AACTA Industry Awards were presented by a range of Australian screen greats, including Warwick Thornton, Kate McCartney, Kate McLennan, Darren Gilshenan, Zoe Coombs Marr and more. 15 productions took out 28 awards, recognising excellence in screen craft across film, television, documentary, short film, and digital production.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Deadloch and The Australian Wars dominated the television categories, walking away with three awards each. The Australian Wars won both Best Documentary or Factual Program and Best Direction in Nonfiction Television.

The most nominated production for this year was The Newsreader, which scooped up the highly coveted Best Direction in Drama or Comedy and will look to bring home even more wins from its additional seven nominations at the AACTA Awards Ceremony on Saturday 10^th February.

Brothers Danny and Michael Philippou’s break-out hit Talk to Me received the highest number of awards on the night with five, including Best Screenplay and Best Editing in Film.

The other big winner across the film categories was The New Boy, collecting two wins including Best Cinematography in Film. Warwick Thornton’s film is competing for an additional six awards, while Talk to Me is up for an additional five at Saturday’s Ceremony.

Australian filmmaking veteran and former Byron Kennedy Award Winner Ivan Sen’s Limbo won Best Indie Film. The VFX team behind the Hollywood blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny took home the AACTA Award for Best Visual Effects or Animation.

Groundbreaking comedy Latecomers took home the award for Best Online Drama or Comedy and Best Short Film went to Finding Addison.

Highlights from the 2024 AACTA Industry Awards presented by Foxtel Group will be available on AACTA’s YouTube channel in the days following the ceremony.

The remainder of this year’s AACTA Award winners will be announced at the 2024 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group Ceremony on Saturday 10 February at HOTA on the Gold Coast. The AACTA Awards Ceremony will be broadcast on Channel Ten at 7pm AEDT that evening.

A special director’s cut including all awards from the ceremony will be available at 7:30pm on Sunday 11 February on BINGE and Foxtel On-Demand and on AACTA TV.

The 2024 AACTA Industry Awards forms part of the inaugural AACTA Festival, a four-day celebration of Australia’s vibrant screen industry. With more than 90 events, AACTA Festival will present a dynamic array of insightful panels, meet-and-greets, screenings and activities offering a place for the Australian screen industry to connect from February 8-11, 2024.

Queensland’s Tourism Minister Michael Healy said it was fitting to honour the screen industry on the Gold Coast.

“Queensland is the country’s screen production capital and celebrating the industry’s best here is an honour. We are always looking to attract more production to Queensland and in turn, share our spectacular landscapes, culture and people with the world through the screen. We’re hoping viewers and attendees are so inspired by what they’ve seen of the Gold Coast, that they return for their next holiday.”

Queensland Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the AACTA Industry Awards offer important recognition for the remarkable skill and creativity of our country’s finest screen practitioners.

“The AACTA Industry Awards shine the spotlight on the talented people working tirelessly across productions, bringing their years of dedication and training to the fore, and highlighting their vital contributions to Australian dramas and documentaries.
