Melbourne Weekender on Channel 7 – Explore the best Melbourne has to offer. Melbourne Weekender starts this Sunday on Seven and 7plus

The Seven Network is inspiring Victorians to explore their own backyard with a new lifestyle program, Melbourne Weekender, premiering 5.30pm this Sunday on Channel 7 Melbourne and 7plus.

Melbourne Weekender will see an all-star cast delving deep into Melbourne’s hidden gems. Each week viewers will receive tips on exploring their local area, city hotspots, family favourites and regional wonders.

The program features some of Victoria’s favourite personalities, including the return of Australian television icon Nicky Buckley to our TV screens. Celebrity chef Gary Mehigan draws on his expertise to show us the best spots to eat out, while TV personality, musician and new mum Bonnie Anderson discovers some Victorian jewels.

Bringing his irreverent humour and laid-back attitude to the program will be former cricketer and commentator Brad Hodge. 7NEWS presenters Jane Bunn and Sonia Marinelli will step out of the news studio to visit idyllic places across the state, while 7AFL commentator Abbey Holmes will show her adventurous side with weekend activities perfect for the whole family.

The debut episode of Melbourne Weekender sees Bonnie visit Co.Bake Space, a venue redefining the art of baking and pop up spaces. Sonia offers road trip inspiration with a drive to NRMA Phillip Island Beachfront Holiday Park and Gary tastes the delights of Vietnam in Springvale, home to one of the biggest Vietnamese communities in Melbourne.

Each episode will feature a My Melbourne Weekender segment where familiar locals take a host on a tour of their go-to Melbourne venues. The first episode will see Nicky spend the day with Australian fashion entrepreneur Nadia Bartel, experiencing some of her favourite places for a perfect weekend in Melbourne.

BONNIE ANDERSON – CO.BAKE SPACE

Bonnie steps into Co.Bake Space, where Alice Bennet (founder of Miss Trixie Drinks Tea) and Alisha Henderson (founder of Sweet Bakes) prove that when life gives you flour, make cake and make it fabulous! In a space that is both creative and delicious, Co.Bake is redefining the art of baking and pop-up spaces.

SONIA MARINELLI – NRMA PHILLIP ISLAND BEACHFRONT HOLIDAY PARK

Sonia takes a road trip to Phillip Island, two hours outside of Melbourne, where the coastal villages are as charming as the little penguins that inhabit the island. Sonia heads to the Gold Tourism Award winners NRMA Phillip Island Beachfront Holiday Park, the perfect spot for a family beach getaway.

NICKY BUCKLEY – MY MELBOURNE WEEKENDER WITH NADIA BARTEL

Nicky spends the day with Nadia Bartel, an Australian fashion entrepreneur and designer who’s name is synonymous with style and is set to shake a tail feather on the new season of Dancing With The Stars.
Nadia gives Nicky a tour of all her favourite places for the perfect weekend. A spot of shopping at her Henne Clothing Boutique, some Pilates at Fluidform Pilates and an end-of-day vino at local hotspot, Albert’s Wine Bar.

GARY MEHIGAN – EATING OUT: SPRINGVALE

Springvale is home to one of the biggest Vietnamese communities in Melbourne, and the hub of the community is a bustling shopping centre that transports you to Vietnam. Gary meets our guide Duncan Lu who takes him on the ultimate Springvale foodie tour. The tour ends with Gary and Duncan’s pick for where to get the best food in the area.
