Tour de France on SBS and SBS on Demand Stage 15 – The world’s strongest and fiercest cyclists gear up to tackle the 2024 Tour de France as audiences worldwide prepare to witness an incredible season of captivating sport and entertainment.

Spanning across four countries, the highly anticipated 111th Tour de France will begin in Florence, Italy for the very first time, taking riders through Bologna and Torino before leaving Italy and cycling through San Marino, Monaco, and France. In another historical first, the race will not finish in its traditional Paris destination, but the stunning city of Nice in the Cote d’Azur.

Stage 15: Sunday, 14 July at 8.30pm

Stage 16: Tuesday, 16 July at 9.30pm

Stage 17: Wednesday. 17 July at 8.30pm

Stage 18: Thursday, 18 July at 9.30pm

Stage 19: Friday, 19 July at 8.30pm

About the Tour De France

The 2024 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift promise an exceptional season of sports and entertainment.

SBS, Australia’s premier cycling broadcaster, will provide extensive coverage of the world’s largest annual sporting event from June 29 onwards.

Extensive Coverage

Moreover, SBS will comprehensively cover both the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The men’s race spans from June 29 to July 21, while the women’s race begins after the Paris Olympics, from August 12 to August 18.

Diverse Route

Spanning four countries, the highly anticipated 111th Tour de France starts in Florence, Italy, for the first time in history. From there, cyclists will pass through Bologna, Torino, San Marino, Monaco, and France. The race will conclude in Nice on the Cote d’Azur, deviating from tradition.

Tour Details

Covering 3,492 kilometers and featuring 52,340 meters of vertical gain over 21 stages, the Tour will visit 39 towns, offering breathtaking scenery and historic landmarks.

Challenging Terrain

The route includes eight flat stages, four hilly stages, two individual time trials, and seven mountain stages. This year, the race concludes with an individual time trial for the first time in 35 years.

Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift

Beginning on August 12 in Rotterdam, a day after the Paris Olympics, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will traverse Belgium and France, covering three countries and ten departments in France.

Cyclists will race to Alpe d’Huez on August 18, marking its debut in the women’s race.

Race Format

Featuring eight stages, the event includes three flat stages, two hilly stages, two mountain stages, and one individual time trial.

Furthermore, the new Jayco & SBS Cycling Podcast will cover cycling throughout July and August 2024.

Hosted on location by Christophe Mallet and David McKenzie, alongside expert guests, the podcast offers comprehensive coverage of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, with in-depth race analysis, exclusive rider interviews, and behind-the-scenes insights.

Each episode corresponds to a race stage, available on all popular podcast platforms. The podcast delivers engaging content tailored for all levels of cycling enthusiasts, providing a deep dive into the Tour de France storytelling.

SBS ŠKODA Tour Tracker App

All stages of the Tour will be live on the SBS ŠKODA Tour Tracker app. The app offers uninterrupted live coverage of every stage, alongside data and rider statistics, enhancing the viewing experience for cycling fans.

Riders and Contenders

This year, 176 riders will attempt to conquer the challenging men’s route. The lineup of general classification contenders includes Jonas Vingegaard, aiming for a Tour de France hat trick, defending his 2023 and 2022 titles against David Gaudu, Simon Yates, Mikel Landa, and reigning Giro d’Italia winner Tadej Pogacar, who aims to conquer both grand tours this year.

Australian Jai Hindley, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2022 and a stage winner in last year’s Tour de France, is a top contender for the podium. Jack Haig also eyes the Tour de France podium this year, with Australians Luke Durbridge and Chris Harper supporting their team leader Simon Yates in the Australian Jayco Aulula Team.

Race Highlights

The Tour de France promises a month of breathtaking scenery, heroic efforts, and dramatic racing as the world’s best cyclists tackle the challenging route.

Plat du Tour

As a delightful complement to the Tour de France, renowned French-Australian chef Guillaume Brahimi returns with Plat du Tour starting from Saturday, June 29. Following the Tour de France route through Italy, San Marino, Monaco, and France, Guillaume Brahimi explores and shares the cuisines and cultures of these regions.

Plat du Tour will air on SBS during Tour de France coverage, featuring 21 inspirational recipes corresponding to the 21 Tour stages. Guillaume meets passionate food producers and creates delicious dishes inspired by the traditions and culture of each city and town.

Guillaume will start his ‘Plat du Tour’ journey in Florence, Italy, setting the Tour spirit.

Plat du Tour will be available on SBS Food Online and SBS On Demand, airing as special half-hour episodes on SBS Food from Thursday, July 18. Produced by Blink TV for SBS.
