This refined civilization still permeates European culture today. Nicknamed the “Versailles of al-Andalus”, Madinat al-Zahra is considered today as one of the most important Islamic archaeological sites in the world.
Five years ago, an excavation campaign led by a team of European archaeologists began on this World Heritage site.
