I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here on 10 George Calombaris says goodbye – In a game of strategy, three celebrities chose to honour one another, turning an elimination battle into a heartbreaking game of chance.
Having never faced the Elephant’s Graveyard, George Calombaris, Nath Valvo and Concetta Caristo were summoned by the Bone Phone to go head-to-head-to-head in tactical trivia.
The trio were blindfolded and dangled over the ‘Mud Pit of Doom’, unaware of how many ropes were holding them up. They were then asked a series of ‘closest to’ questions, where the winner of each question could select which celebrity would have a rope cut. The first celeb to have all their ropes cut and take a dip in the muddy pit below would also be ending their time in the jungle.
While the game was supposed to be a rapid display of ruthless tactics, the three celebs instead refused to gang up on one another and took it in turns to slice ropes. But eventually one had to take the fall, and sadly for our MasterChef great, it was his time to walk through the Tunnel of Doom and back into the real world.
Speaking to Robert and Julia after his elimination, Geroge said he was “really content” with his final night in camp.
“I don’t need to win anything here and, if anything, I want to demonstrate the fact that kindness is not something we should take for granted.”
The last to arrive in camp, George certainly made a huge impact on his fellow celebrities.
“The first couple of days were hard,”
– he admitted.
“Suddenly I’m with strangers getting to learn who they are, getting thrown into challenges, and you just got to go, you know what? Let’s free-fall here, let’s go for this.”
Reflecting on his time in the jungle, George said,
“I wanted my children who are now 13 and 14, James and Michaela, to go, life will throw you obstacles and you’re going to have to jump them. Coming in here threw obstacles at me… literally!”
George’s time in the jungle was in support of Beyond Blue, one of the nation’s most trusted and well-known mental health organisations, offering information, support and hope to those who are struggling, need advice, or are recovering and need to reconnect.
We’re officially at the pointy end of the competition, but who will take home the crown and the glory of winning $100,000 for their chosen charity? Australia, it’s almost time to have your say!
