9News Melbourne new line-up starts Sunday – 2024 signals the dawning of a new era for 9News Melbourne with the introduction of an all-new presenting line-up.
Taking the reins as joint hosts of the Monday to Friday editions of 9News Melbourne are Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort – both proud and passionate Melburnians.
The duo will make their debut together in a one-off special Sunday bulletin this Sunday, January 14, live from the opening night of the Australian Open.
Alicia, who has been the trusted weekend presenter for 9News Melbourne for the past 12 years, said:
“It’s a huge honour and privilege to be appointed to this role and to do it alongside Tom, who I started with at Bendigo Street, makes it extra special. Our newsroom is filled with exceptional people and we’re looking forward to bringing you the news in 2024 and beyond.”
Tom, who began his career at 9News Melbourne, before stints as US Correspondent and reporter for A Current Affair and 60 Minutes, said:
“After so many years living out of a suitcase chasing the biggest stories around the world, I’m beyond excited to return home to Melbourne and partner with my old friend Alicia. It’s also such a privilege to follow in the footsteps of an icon like Hitch, and I’m so glad he’ll continue to be part of the team. It will be great to live and breathe this magnificent city again, and thankfully get my kids to the MCG for Richmond games more regularly!”

Veteran anchor Peter Hitchener, an iconic presence on our television screens for more than 50 years, will now anchor the weekend edition of 9News Melbourne, beginning on Saturday, January 27.
