The Great Wall with Ash Dykes on SBS Viceland and SBS on Demand S1E and S1E2 – British extreme athlete, Ash Dykes introduces his latest adventure—a monumental journey along the Great Wall of China spanning 21,000km.
Having conquered feats like solo crossing of the Gobi Desert and navigating Madagascar’s dense jungle, over two and a half months, he explores China’s National Cultural Park, showcasing the wall’s diverse heritage built over millennia.
Season One, Episode One:
Ash’s Great Wall adventure begins in Henan Province searching for the origins of the Great Wall. Before seeking out the birthplace of Kung Fu at The Shaolin Temple. Ash then meets a wall protector in Chengziyu village who is passionate about preserving China’s past. And finally, he’ll take a dive into the underwater world of the wall at Panjiakou reservoir.
Season One, Episode Two:
Ash Dykes finds himself in the countryside near Beijing City as his adventures unfold in Mutianyu, focusing on wildlife conservation. Following this, he heads to Shixia village to investigate how the local community is actively involved in preserving two sections of the Great Wall. Lastly, he bravely takes on the most perilous climb along the Great Wall, known as The Eagles Neck.
