Saving Yellowstone on SBS and SBS on Demand S1E1 – The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is one of the largest intact environments on the planet, and home to over 1000 unique plant and animal species.
While still largely rugged and majestic, serious issues such as disease, drought, pollution, human encroachment, and climate change continually threaten both the wild and domesticated animals who call this place home.
Hosted by Dennis Quaid, Saving Yellowstone is a four-part limited series exploring both the beauty and fragility of this magical land.
Series One, Episode One – In The Mountains
High in the mountains, over 10,000 ft in altitude, an unusual protagonist takes centre stage: the whitebark pine. This odd-looking tree may not seem like much, but it is the giver of life not only on high but also to everything below.
We explore life at the highest altitudes, profiling the animals who rely on the tree for protection or sustenance: the grizzly bear, Clark’s nutcracker, red squirrels, and bighorn sheep.
Saving Yellowstone on SBS and SBS on Demand – Series Premiere / Wednesday 4 February at 7.30pm (4 Parts)
