Pitch On Demand 2023 – Commissioners Announced – Screen Producers Australia (SPA) today announced the return of their premium online pitch initiative, Pitch On Demand. The initiative provides producers with opportunities to engage with key decision-makers from leading content commissioners who are on the hunt for the next big production.
Now in its third iteration, Pitch On Demand was designed as a streamlined approach to pitching and has been a welcome opportunity for producers seeking to fast-track their projects.
The accessible format was an immediate hit since its launch in 2021 and continues to allow commissioning executives to provide a detailed brief on gaps in their slates, sharing valuable details with attendees keen to take advantage of the potentially game-changing opportunities.
SPA is excited to announce three premium content commissioners, Apple TV+, the Foxtel Group and Warner Bros. Discovery, for the 2023 iteration of Pitch On Demand.
Apple TV+’s Senior Creative Executive Oliver Jones and International Creative Development Executive Carolyn Carbone will provide a written brief for producers to study before establishing if their projects meet the criteria and submitting a pitch if they fit the bill.
Foxtel and BINGE’s Head of Scripted Originals Lana Greenhalgh, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Senior Director Commissioning ANZ Vicki Keogh, Senior Commissioner Unscripted Virginia Hodgson, and Senior Commissioner Scripted Tina McLaren will provide their briefs via 30-minute webinars.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s Senior Director Commissioning ANZ Vicki Keogh said,
“We’re delighted to be part of this initiative and look forward to sharing more details about our ANZ commissioning strategy with producers. We’re always looking for the freshest new ideas to complement our existing slate, and we’re grateful to SPA for providing this opportunity for us to hear directly from Australian creatives.”
Following the Warner Bros. Discovery webinar on Thursday, 05 October, submission portals will open. SPA members will have the exclusive opportunity to submit one pitch per commissioner if they have a project that strongly aligns with the brief criteria.
SPA will then facilitate pitch meetings between shortlisted applicants and key decision-makers from each content commissioner.
Once again, SPA is hopeful that opportunities provided by Pitch On Demand will result in Australian screen businesses securing vital funding for prospective projects.
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said,
“We’re delighted to be able to provide Pitch On Demand as an opportunity for our members once again. I’d like to thank the content commissioners for their participation and hope we see some strong pitches submitted as we know the SPA membership houses some of the boldest and brightest producers in Australia.
“Pitch On Demand is a rare opportunity for producers to hear direct from commissioners on what they want to see. The initiative is the perfect chance for content creators to build solid business relationships and get projects put into gear, helping to grow the unique screen industry in Australia by sharing homegrown stories,” said Mr Deaner.
The Apple TV+ brief will be available on the Pitch On Demand website from 12pm AEDT on Thursday, 5 October 2023.
