Over the Black Dot On NITV returns Tuesday 4 March – National Indigenous Television’s (NITV) flagship footy show Over the Black Dot returns on Tuesday 4 March at 9.30pm.

The longest-running Indigenous NRL television program, Over the Black Dot is hosted by legendary NRL player and proud Anaiwan man Dean Widders, and this season will broadcast with weekly 30-minute programs.

Dean will be joined by sports professionals and seasoned presenters including Dual International Timana Tahu, Bo de la Cruz, a proud descendant of the Gudjula and Erubian people and a multi-award-winning Touch, Rugby Union and Rugby League player, and proud Dunghutti man and former NRL professional, Beau Champion.

Over the Black Dot is a weekly round-up program of rugby league views and yarns, featuring guest appearances, game results, hot topics and the community that makes the game of rugby league the greatest.

Each week, off-the-cuff conversations and community chats cover the top level of rugby league and all levels of the code. From grassroots games to the NRL, this program is for fans that live and breathe rugby league as well as those that want to learn more about the game.

Kicking off after the Indigenous All-Stars matches and the NRL opening round in Las Vegas, Over the Black Dot continues to focus on the talents of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their achievements.

Episode One features Dean Widders and Bo de la Cruz under bright lights in Las Vegas, covering the four games: Canberra Raiders vs New Zealand Warriors, Penrith Panthers vs Cronulla Sutherland-Sharks, Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves and Australian Jillaroos vs England Women’s Team.

Host, Dean Widders, said:

“We’re back for another year of footy and I can’t wait for more banter and laughs. I’m excited to travel to Vegas to start the season, and with the Aussie Jillaroos playing England, who better to join me on the ground than Bo de la Cruz, a World Champion rugby player?”

Dena Curtis, Head of Indigenous Commissioning and Production at NITV, said:

“Over the Black Dot continues to cover rugby league with a uniquely Indigenous lens, celebrating Black excellence. We are thrilled with the continued success of the program and we’re incredibly proud of the team as the show has been nominated for an Australian Sports Commission Media Award, further solidifying our position as a leading national sports show.”

Over the Black Dot airs weekly from Tuesday 4 March at 9.30pm on NITV and SBS On Demand.
