Wide World of Sports line-up includes NRL finals

NRL FINALS WEEK 1

Friday 13th September
Qualifying Final # 1 – Panthers v Roosters @ BlueBet Stadium, Penrith
7.00pm AEST on Channel 9 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Stream for free on 9Now.

The 2024 NRL Finals begin with three-time reigning premiers, the Panthers out to send a warning shot to their rivals when Nathan Cleary returns from injury in what is the last ever game at Penrith Park, where he aims to repeat his finals heroics of 2023. The Roosters however have other ideas, lead by James Tedesco coupled with an aggressive forward pack featuring former Panthers wrecking ball, Spencer Leniu, Angus Crichton and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, don’t expect the Roosters to take a backwards step in what shapes as a bruising encounter.

Saturday 14th September
Qualifying Final # 2 – Storm v Sharks @ AAMI Park, Melbourne.
3.15pm AEST on Channel 9 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Stream for free on 9Now.

The Minor Premiership winning Melbourne Storm stroll into their home final against the Sharks with the tag of premiership favouritism sitting comfortably on their shoulders. The opponenets, the Sharks, have been written off and criticised for their lack of performance in the finals and would love nothing more than to claim a big scalp, with former Storm premiership player Nicho Hynes in the drivers seat. There’s never a shortage of animosity between these two clubs, and with a spot on the Preliminary finals on the line expect things to get a little spicy.

Elimination Final # 1 – Cowboys v Knights @ Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville
7.00pm AEST on Channel 9 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Stream for free on 9Now.

It’s win or go home when Dally M Medallist Kalyn Ponga and his Knights ride into Townsville to take on the Cowboys for the first elimination final. The Knights have been playing for their season for the last few weeks and will be battled hardened, while the Cowboys have a team full of State of Origin and International representatives playing in front of 25,000 die heard North Queenslanders. With Ponga, Scott Drinkwater, Tom Dearden and Valentine Holmes expect points aplenty in this thrilling match up.

Sunday 15th September
Elimination Final # 2 – Bulldogs v Sea Eagles @ Accor Stadium, Sydney.
3.30pm AEST on Channel 9 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Stream Free on 9Now

Back in the NRL finals for the first time since 2016, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have rediscovered their bite in 2024 and will need every bit of the defencsive resolve that earned then their spot when they meet a Manly Sea Eagles team featuring Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans. Accor Stadium will be packed with 50,000 Doggies, in what promises to be an electric atmosphere when these two famous Sydney clubs collide to keep their seasons alive.
