Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now S27E7 – Join the Postcards team this week as guest presenter Joel Creasey takes viewers on a tour around the Melbourne CBD ahead of his Comedy Festival show, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Joel explores the buzzing heart of the CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) ahead of this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He starts at Max Watts, the basement venue that has hosted live gigs since 1997, where he’ll perform his 15th Comedy Festival show; Thanks for Being Here. Next he unwinds at Cabinet Bar & Balcony, a hidden gem behind Little Collins Street known for its intimate atmosphere and top-notch cocktails. To cap off the night Joel visits Punch Lane, a Melbourne institution clocking up 30 years of fine wine and dining at the top of Little Bourke Street.
We find Madeline Spark up on the Gold Coast in the stunning suburb of Miami (Bundjalung Country).
She strolls along the picturesque Miami Beach walk, taking in the ocean views, before tackling the famous rainbow stairs. After a stop at Paddock Bakery, a local spot beloved for its artisan pastries and vintage charm, she tours the latest Mater Prize Home, a breathtaking dream house up for grabs in a life-changing lottery. Madeline wraps up her visit with a feast at Etsu Izakaya, where bold Japanese flavors and a vibrant atmosphere make for an excellent experience.
Brodie Harper explores the coastal suburbs of Rye and Fingal (Bunurong Country) on the Mornington Peninsula. She starts on the Rye foreshore, a favoured spot for beachgoers and families, then heads to Nora’s Pizza House, a new local favourite serving hand-pulled pasta and authentic, Italian-style pizzas. For a taste of the region’s renowned produce, Brodie visits The Cups Estate, a family-run vineyard popularised by its boutique wines and house-made olive oil.
And Shane Delia takes viewers on a culinary CBD adventure through Hardware Lane (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country).
He kicks off at the modern and new Mexican restaurant, Hotel Nacionale, which has two epic rooftop bars and gluten-free Mex food. From Mexico to Japan in just over a minute, Shane heads to Katsuhon to enjoy some delicious katsu. Then he finishes with South American cuisine at Palermo, an Argentinian steakhouse.
