The Block on Channel 9 sets auction date – After a monumental season that saw our Blockheads building brand new, architecturally designed homes in the picturesque town of Daylesford, it’s time to find out who will be crowned winner of The Block 2025, this Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
The five couples – Emma and Ben (VIC), Han and Can (WA), Britt and Taz (WA), Alicia and Sonny (QLD), and Robby and Mat (SA) – have poured their hearts and souls into creating homes that reflect Daylesford’s unique country-meets-contemporary style. With identical floor plans, every detail, every finish and every styling choice has been a critical decision in their quest to sell the Daylesford dream to the highest bidder and take out the competition.
This season has offered everything from secret wine cellars to the biggest challenge prize in Block history, a Block baby, and a whirlwind 12 weeks of building and friendship drama. Now these turnkey luxury homes will be the perfect purchase for buyers seeking a tranquil, tree-change escape, with showstopping features.
Will the property market in Daylesford, a town that has embraced the show with open arms, deliver record-breaking profits? Who will turn up to auction? Who will take home the $100,000 prizemoney?
Host Scott Cam said:
“After 12 weeks of hard work, it’s incredible to see these Blockheads transform their visions into stunning homes. The scale of this season’s build has been enormous and these teams have truly been put to the test.
“Auction day is the most nerve-racking day of the year for me. This is a life-changing weekend for our teams and they have all put in the effort to deserve an incredible result.”
Domain National Managing Editor Alice Stolz, who breaks down the property market, says:
“Sellers are in a good spot right now. Interest rates are lower, clearance rates are higher and overall supply is decent. We’re seeing a lift in buyer enquiry across regional Victoria, particularly in commutable lifestyle hubs like Daylesford.
“But things can get tricky if sellers overbake what their homes are worth. Deals are not getting done if sellers are dreaming.
“This year’s Block contestants have delivered something truly extraordinary, large, beautiful and architectural homes in the heart of one of Victoria’s most charming towns. There’s nothing out there like it. Let’s hope enough buyers are ready to lock it in.”
Executive Producer Julian Cress shares the praise for this year’s contestants. He said:
“There is no doubt that our contestants have built five incredible homes, in what we have discovered is one of the best country towns and communities in Australia.
“We would be very hopeful that people who have watched this series realise just what an amazing thing it would be to buy one of these homes and join the community in Daylesford.
“We are trying to do something that has never been done before, auction five high-end homes in Daylesford on the same day. And while the homes all deserve to sell well and command high prices, we are not certain that we can do it in one day. But we hope to.
“So as usual, we are as nervous as we always are going into a Block auction. Whatever happens on the day, on behalf of our entire cast and crew we would like to sincerely thank the people of Daylesford for welcoming us to their beautiful town.”
Since premiering on Channel 9 in 2003, The Block, Australia’s richest reality program, has awarded a total of $39,627,139.63 in prizemoney.

About the Show
Get ready to celebrate more than one incredible milestone for Australia’s favourite renovation show, The Block, in the beautiful country town of Daylesford in Victoria.
The Block is back for its 21st season – which includes its 1,000th episode – and will premiere Sunday, July 27, at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Daylesford, about 80 minutes from Melbourne, is known as one of Australia’s top weekend getaway destinations and the capital of spas and mineral springs.
For the first time in the show’s history, the teams this year will build homes from scratch that are exactly the same in layout and size, once again designed by longtime Block architect Julian Brenchley.
Also new this year, all-nighters are outlawed, and the building site will be locked every night. This means time-management skills from the contestants are a must, or some rooms won’t be completed in time.

Host Scott Cam is back for his 19th season, joined by co-host Shelley Craft in her 18th season with The Block. Plus, Dan Reilly continues in his role as sole foreman, while Marty Fox, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer return for the make-or-break weekly room judging.
“Since all the houses have identical layouts, it really comes down to the contestants’ own creativity where they’ll have to think outside the box to catch the judges’ eye for a win,”
– Scott Cam said.
“They have to produce something spectacular from week one.”
Shelley believes the unique twist of the houses being new builds will resonate with Block viewers and also help the contestants.
“For the contestants it’s a fresh start every week,”
– she said.
“Rather than a dirty, grubby, messy start where they had to demolish a room and rebuild it in a week, coming into a clean frame is a much better mindset to be in.”

The five teams who will build a house in Daylesford are:
- Plumber Sonny (44) and dental practice manager Alicia (42), married couple from QLD
- Barber Robby (37) and hairdresser Mat (41), best mates from SA
- Geologist Han (29) and social media and marketing analyst Can (31), couple from WA
- Police officer Britt (30) and police officer Taz (30), married couple from WA
- Dance teacher Em (33) and engineer Ben (32), married couple from VIC

The Block’s executive producer and creator, Julian Cress, said the five couples cast this year have brought the show back to basics for season 21.
“What the audience can expect this year is what I would call a classic Block series,”
– he said.
“We have a really diverse cast of hard-working people who are very competitive, engaged with their design, and of course we will have some high and lows.”
Julian said Daylesford was an idyllic location for The Block. The production and the entire crew moved there for three months during the build and were embraced with open arms.
“There is a reason why Daylesford is the number one weekend tourist decision in Australia – it’s a very beautiful town with an amazing community. We hope to show how incredible Daylesford is to not only Australia, but to the rest of the world.”
And this year there will be another first for Australian television: a purpose-built Sponsor Village onsite, which transforms how sponsor interaction is done on a program like The Block.

Some facts and figures about the history of The Block:
- 186 contestants

The Block moves to Daylesford and premieres on Sunday, July 27, at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
