Shark! on Channel 9 announces cast – If there’s one thing Australians fear most, it’s the greatest predator of all – the shark.

Lurking in the shallows, the single fin is an image impossible to shake. Our unique relationship with sharks and the water is like no other.

That fear is about to surface in the most heart-pounding new series to ever reach our shores, SHARK!

In this bold new show, six Australian celebrities will face their greatest fears when they enter the water with some of the most frightening species known to humans – the bull shark, the hammerhead and the tiger shark.

There has never been a show like this before. It’s raw, it’s real and it will be life changing.

Our six celebrities have a genuine, palpable fear and in SHARK! they attempt to overcome this while at the same time confronting their individual personal fears – by swimming in shark infested waters.

Shot in the Bahamas, which is known as the shark capital of the world, SHARK! will push these celebrities to their absolute limits.

  • Recently retired swimming superstar and four-time Olympic gold medallist, Ariarne Titmus
  • Beloved actress and 2025 TV Week Gold Logie Award winner, Lynne McGranger
  • Social media star and entrepreneur, Tammy Hembrow
  • Media personality and one of Australia’s favourite hosts, Scott Cam
  • NRL legend and commentator, Sam Thaiday
  • Hollywood actor and former rugby league player, Matt Nable

Australian shark attack survivor and former Navy clearance diver Paul de Gelder, who lost his right hand and leg in a Sydney Harbour bull shark attack, will guide the six celebrities through their high-stakes journey. He will be joined by shark expert and conservationist Annie Guttridge.

Paul de Gelder said:

“Australians have a deep, complicated relationship with sharks. We’re a coastal nation — we swim, we surf, we fish. We love it. And when tragedy strikes, it hits close to home.

That’s why this show matters and why Annie and I felt compelled to help create SHARK! We’re bringing something different — a series that blends intensity and drama with our real love for the ocean and the animals that call it home.

Fear is understandable, but sharks aren’t villains. They can be dangerous — yes — but they are also beautiful, vital to the health of our oceans, and worthy of respect rather than fear alone.”

The celebrities will face high-tension, heart-stopping shark challenges that escalate in danger and intensity: from diving with the safety of a protective cage to the most terrifying test imaginable – an open water swim with one of the most aggressive of all sharks. Regardless of how many shark encounters they can successfully navigate, all of them will leave the Bahamas with a completely new perspective of these remarkable creatures.

SHARK! will push their minds and bodies to breaking point.

How will they fare when they face their greatest fears? Will they be brave enough to take fear to the next level?

SHARK! is based on the original format Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters created and produced by Plimsoll, part of ITV Studios, for the 9Network.
