Recap | Married at First Sight Season 13 Episode 17 – The MAFS 2026 couples are waking up after another chaotic Dinner Party and there’s one name on everyone’s lips: Bec.

She went a tad off the rails at everyone around the table, meddling in other relationships and yelling at Gia’s “evil eyes”.

It was a lot!

Ahead of the Commitment Ceremony, the three new couples receive a surprise letter. While they’ll get their couch time, they won’t be writing stay or leave.

I’m sure Stephanie and Tyson are especially stoked to have another week to argue about “masculine energy”.

Take a seat, let’s see what the experts think about all that.

Stephanie and Tyson

Tyson opens with how unsupported he felt by Steph last night, wondering if she didn’t want to get involved when his views were questioned because she’s “a female”.

Keep digging! (Nine)

Steph explains her POV, Tyson says it feels like she’s “talking down” to him and John Aiken is positively shook by the hypocrisy.

Tyson thinks Steph’s “definitely not the submissive type, that’s for sure”. A “feminine woman”, in his mind, is the opposite of her.

The audacity. (Nine)

Mel Schilling is deeply concerned by this “submissive” thing.

“You’re saying ‘I want to be with someone who will lie down, give up their rights, not try to have their needs met, who will make the relationship all about you and your needs’,” she tells him.

Tyson goes searching for a different word – one that isn’t “submissive” but still accurately describes his desire for someone less “challenging” and “dominant”.

Instead of handing him a thesaurus, Mel schools him on what actual human relationships require and tells him he’s not superior to Steph.

It’s a lot of woman-speak to take in! (Nine)

Despite his entire personality, Steph can see why they were matched – but even after some hard truths from John, he struggles to see a future.

They have to learn to be more respectful and curious, rather than combative. And obviously, we’ll get to see them try (or not try) in the week to come.

Stella and Filip

Thank goodness for these two and their wholesome giggling.

More to come, of course, because they each have written stay.

Mel and Luke

Mel’s put Luke deep, deep in the friend zone and while she’s been desperately hoping her feelings would grow, Luke doesn’t think she’s tried.

“I’ve never put so much effort into a person as I have with Mel on this experiment,” he says.

EXCLUSIVE: Mel and Luke reveal how single mistake doomed their entire relationship – with very different answers

While Luke technically possesses all the traits she’s looking for, she just doesn’t have feelings for him – but even the experts wonder if she’s really given him a chance.

They each reveal their decisions and we’re officially saying goodbye, as both choose to leave.

Alissa and David

Trust, safety, fun – this relationship is going well … Which is why John wants to pivot to more interesting topics, such as why the group are so obsessed with them.

He asks Bec, who concedes they shouldn’t be talking about Alissa and David’s relationship but tries to skirt around the fact she was shown gossiping about her in Gia’s screenshots.

She can’t answer why she’s been talking about Alissa at all, which John hopes she interrogates in herself.

He says Bec and Gia have developed a pattern: going scorched earth at the Dinner Party, fronting up to apologise at the Commitment Ceremony, but then doing it again.

Facing so much adversity has only brought Alissa and David closer, so they are staying.

Julia and Grayson

Julia, Grayson and a very fancy red beret are up next, fresh off their break-up.

It’s the same old story: Julia doesn’t feel a spark and Grayson feels like she has wasted his time.

Grayson breaks down as he worries if he’s ever going to find his person.

“I just feel a bit helpless, I want love so bad,” he cries.

All that’s left to do is reveal their matching “leaves”.

Au revoir!

Chris and Sam

These crowd favourites are growing their relationship day by day.

It’s going well for Chris and Sam and no one can stop smiling!

Rachel and Steven

Two happy couples in a row – can you bloody believe it!?

They had a very sweet one-month anniversary and hope to have many more as they stay.

Gia and Scott

Wait. Make that THREE happy couples in a row.

They’re going great yadda yadda yadda how about those receipts, though?

Gia showed screenshots of texts after being hurt by Bec saying she had no friends left, causing Bec to jump in calling Gia out (again) for almost ruining her relationship the week before, with her claim Danny told her she was more his type.

Not that anyone could forget with the amount of times we’ve heard about it!

They’re not ready for L-bombs just yet, but Gia and Scott are definitely falling for each other. Stay x2, obviously.

Juliette and Joel

The last of the new couples have been very up and down since Joel’s mum said “gluttonous pug” in her wedding speech.

And today, Juliette’s decided she’s not attracted to Joel. She’s usually very touchy-feely but just isn’t feeling it.

Juliette is aware others have judged Joel, which she can’t help but be embarrassed by and admits she wouldn’t stick around if not for the experiment.

But he’s willing to be patient … aaaand they don’t even get a choice to leave anyway.

Bec and Danny

”Stronger than ever, together,” is how Bec describes their relationship this week.

Alessandra Rampolla wonders how that’s possible when Danny looks like this:

So strong, so together. (Nine)

EXCLUSIVE: MAFS cast reveal their celebrity lookalikes

He’s not one to instigate drama and finds her Dinner Party behaviour embarrassing.

As John puts it, Bec “applied a blowtorch” to everyone else’s relationships to avoid talking about her own – which, just in case you need it spelled out, is not in fact stronger than ever.

Bec admits she’s really angry, at both Gia and Danny, but she doesn’t want to be angry with him because she’s terrified he’ll leave.

EMBARGO 1/3/2026 9PM MAFS 2026 Bec
Tough watch! (Nine)

It all comes back to Gia’s claim and Danny is really damn sick of talking about it.

Gia then has another allegation, this time about Bec!

“Off camera she tells me ‘Babe, I believe you but want am I going to do? Then I’ve got to leave’,” she claims.

Bec denies it. Perhaps both Bec and Danny denying random rumours by Gia is what can bring them closer together – because they are staying.

“No more grenades,” Bec promises.

Tomorrow night, Friends and Family Week gets underway, while the newbies take a crash course.

New week, new chaos!
