Recap | Married at First Sight Season 13 Episode 14 – It’s a new week on Married At First Sight and here’s hoping this one doesn’t have any more runaway brides!
After saying goodbye to Rebecca and Steve, and watching Brook and Chris each run away, we need to bump up the numbers of this group!

Tonight, we’ve got two weddings to attend. At one of them, we hear about romantic topics such as “woke culture”, and at the other, there’s a Borat impression.
No, really.
Stephanie and Tyson’s wedding
Tyson is a 30-year-old former Australian soldier who has an American flag in his garage. Yes, that is confusing.
It’s less confusing when he opens his mouth and lambasts “woke” feminists and people who don’t like Donald Trump.

He got divorced from his first wife, from Utah, because she left her dirty plates in the sink amongst other things. But he has a big house and he wants to share it with a partner, as long as she’s feminine, tidy and enjoys foreign flags as décor.
His match is 32-year-old real estate agent Stephanie, who also thinks “woke shit” has gone too far.
She’s never had a serious adult relationship and is very guarded after seeing how horrendous her parents’ divorce was.
Steph is looking for a masculine man who can take control and unfortunately, her intro doesn’t include her opinion on the stars and stripes as artwork.
Julia and Grayson, Rachel and Steven and Alissa and David arrive as guests, and it’s a good thing they did because Alissa is the only woman seated on Tyson’s side of the aisle.
Don’t worry, she doesn’t see that as a red flag at all!
While Stephanie smiles her way down the aisle, her non-green hair is not enough to stop Tyson’s concerns.
“I did get some ‘woke vibes’ there,” he reckons.
He soon learns his woke-dar is faulty however, as Steph reacts “oh thank god”, to him rejecting “woke culture” in his vows.
Two seconds later, his concerns return when Steph begins her vows by talking about her career ambition.
“I don’t think Tyson wants a career girl, does he? He wants someone to stay home, doesn’t he?” his dad ponders from the crowd.
Her “boss b–ch vibes” give “masculine energy”, apparently, which he and his all-male wedding guest list don’t need any more of.

“Anti-woke” groom stirs the pot on his big day.
During their photo shoot, Tyson discovers what he considers to be red flag after red flag about Steph.

Meanwhile, she’s pretty chill about the fact he married his ex-wife after meeting her in person only a month before they married.
After she tells the photographer she’ll allow one kiss photo, Tyson comes away from the shoot labelling her “frigid”, while she finds him “overbearing”.
Steph admits to “freaking the f— out” at her reception as the reality of being married to a stranger hits her, especially because that stranger wants five children.
”How hard can it be?” he wonders about parenthood. Sorry, I mean motherhood.
“You’ve just got to feed it, take it to the toilet and that’s it.”
Steph thinks perhaps there’s a little more to it, so some help would be nice.
”Do you want to be a house husband?” she jokes.
They have a one-on-one chat where Tyson calls her “masculine” to her face.
Their thoughts on childcare and career definitely do not align and Steph wonders if her strength makes him feel “emasculated”.
His thoughts are setting off alarm bells.
“It’s giving manosphere,” she says.
Juliette and Joel’s wedding
Receptionist Juliette, 27, likes to say “yes” to everything, which I assume is how she got here.
She’s been told she’s “too much” in the past, so is looking for a man who celebrates her eccentricities and is just as much of a goofball as she is.
Judging by this bearded man loudly laughing, she may be in luck!
His name is Joel and he’s a 31-year-old former “fat Uber driver” turned model. His words!
After his last breakup, he “pieced himself back together”, took up self-improvement and found a whole new life.

Now he wants someone to share it with – which is strange, because he already seems to have a soulmate:
Besides teddy, Joel’s closest friend is his mum, who still does his laundry but would like it if he had someone else to email every now and again.
Gia and Scott, Bec and Danny, Stella and Filip and Mel and Luke are the lucky couples invited to this wedding.
The groom arrives and the first impressions are … really something!
Finally, Juliette, whom Gia doesn’t know yet but already feels sorry for, arrives and there are instant fireworks.
But as they get into their vows, Joel pours cold water all over them.
While her vows are as heartfelt as vows that quote Charli XCX possibly can be, she doesn’t think his are.
It’s hard to pick the best line: is it “I’ve got many flaws – carpet, tiles, wood, you name it, baby”, or could it be “Loose and baggy equals daggy, all Birkenstocks and Crocs must be incinerated IMMEDIATELY”?
Things are no better during their reception.
Gia and Scott throw questions at Joel and make a jab about what kind of modelling he does.
“Kmart or BIG W?” Scott asks.
But when describing what he asked for, Joel says Juliette is exactly it right down to “no plastic” in her face.
Those shocked faces continue as we turn to the wedding speeches, beginning with Joel and a “MY WIFE” Borat impression.
It’s somehow both the greatest and the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

The most jaw-dropping wedding speech yet.
It really only gets better/worse from there, as Joel compares himself to an anchovy and says something truly horrific about clearing sewage from his throat.
“I think he missed the mark,” Filip says. I don’t know man, that’s a big call!
Oh, you thought we were done? Bring in mum!
She says he was a baby who didn’t want to sleep or eat, “which turned into the opposite problem as he got older and he turned into a gluttonous pig”.
Every single jaw drops simultaneously.
She continues to endear her son to no one in the room by sharing fun little anecdotes about him sleeping with a teddy bear and still lying on her lap for back scratches.
“I hope you’re ready Juliette, congratulations,” she finishes.
Juliette is not ready. She’s pissed.
Joel insists it was all just a joke but the night ends with the bride getting up and dramatically leaving her own wedding table – uh-oh!

Tomorrow night, there’s one more wedding to attend and fingers crossed it involves no Borat quotes.
Plus, the original couples celebrate their one-month anniversaries, while Stephanie and Tyson’s honeymoon goes from bad to worse.
