Married at First Sight on Channel 9 – Pack your bags, because it is Homestays Week!

The brides and grooms are getting geared up to see their other half in their natural environment. The hope is that at this stage of the experiment it will help the couples see what their relationship could look like in the real world.

Stream every episode of Married At First Sight for free on 9Now.

But it’s kinda hard to do that when your wife is missing.

Case in point: Jayden, whose flight is boarding but his wife Eden is nowhere to be seen and hasn’t been for the last seven hours.

“I’ve got no idea where she is. No call, no text, I don’t know what to do!” Jayden huffs.

Eden and Jayden

Unsure of what to do, Jayden catches a flight to the Gold Coast without his wife. Things are off to a smashing start for Eden and Jayden. NOT.

We’re no experts but we’re guessing Eden’s absence probably has something to do with the frosty session she and Jayden endured at the Commitment Ceremony.

After Eden told Jayden a bit of gossip about how Sara and her ex were apparently making fun of Tim, Jayden felt he needed to air the information to the group. But Eden’s anxiety meant she just wanted to keep it between her and Jayden.

In the heat of the moment, she gave Jayden an ultimatum and said, “If you tell that story, I’m done with you and I’m leaving”.

Jayden did in fact tell that story. And well, maybe Eden wasn’t bluffing after all.

She was bluffing.

Eden does catch up to Jayden and arrives at the Gold Coast on a separate flight and a separate taxi about three hours later.

When Eden and Jayden do come face-to-face it’s not exactly the type of reunion you’d read about in romance novels.

Things are more than a little frosty as Eden and Jayden try to resolve their issues and it’s not helping that they have two very different approaches to fixing everything.

Eden just wants to apologise and move on while Jayden wants to talk about things or in Eden’s words “rehash the same situation 10 times over”.

Ummm, I guess we’ll call this one resolved…for now?

Lauren and Jono

Like Jayden, Jono also caught a flight to Homestays without his wife but for entirely different reasons.

As you may recall Lauren was already in Perth because of an emergency surgery she had to undergo, so Jono is saving her the flight back and meeting her in Perth.

And Jono’s first order of business is to meet Lauren’s best friend Mackenzie who has been described as “just like Lauren only more full on” and with a description like that it’s no wonder Jono is packing it.

Lauren says if Mackenzie doesn’t approve they’re “gonna put Jono in the bin”.

Based off Lauren’s texts, Mackenzie doesn’t have high hopes for Jono but that all changes when they actually meet.

Mackenzie gives her stamp of approval and with Jono hanging off her arm, Lauren is feeling the warm and fuzzies.

The warm and fuzzies take a southerly as Lauren and Jono consummate their Homestays visit.

“Yeah it’s been a while, probably since the Honeymoon,” Lauren blushes.

Things couldn’t be tracking better for the couple, especially for Lauren who realises she’s in the company of “someone [she] needs rather than wants”. And that’s on growth!

EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan gets candid about his past relationships in his audition tape

Lucinda and Timothy

For the first time in the history of the experiment, Lucinda is struggling to find a nice thing to say and it’s because she’s just stepped foot inside Timothy’s apartment.

It’s uhhh, “quite the bachelor pad” as Lucinda puts it.

But of course Lucinda finds a silver lining, she thinks Timothy’s dogs are “divine”, even when they piss on the carpet.

Somehow things get worse as Lucinda and Timothy venture outside of the bachie pad.

As Lucinda catches a moment alone with Timothy’s mate Shane, she learns more about what Timothy is usually like in relationships and she does not get the answers she expected.

Shane says that Timothy is a “doter”. “He loves to take care of, he loves to have somebody to nurture and be the protector,” Shane adds.

Lucinda needs just a moment to compute.

Doter? Are we talking about the same Timothy? You know Timothy with salt and pepper hair and a sarcastic sense of humour?

Yep! That’s the one!

EXCLUSIVE: Tristan on discovering the silver lining in his emotional split from Cassandra

Lucinda takes a more civil approach and expresses that she’s not sighted a protective Timothy in her experience.

It’s a bit of an a-ha moment for Lucinda. “It’s a little bit bittersweet to say at this stage but I’m starting to realise I want a lot more for myself,” she admits to cameras.

As someone that’s been in their own company for most of their life, Timothy is seriously struggling with having someone else in his space.

“Some days I just want it to be me and the dogs because they don’t talk,” Timothy speaks frankly.

Lucinda takes a hint and says, “the best thing I can do is leave him alone for a bit.”

Timothy might’ve taken that offer a touch too literally and after telling Lucinda he’d be out with a friend for an hour, he’s disappeared for about seven hours and has gone completely radio silent.

“It really speaks volumes of him not wanting to see me. I don’t see Tim making much effort,” Lucinda sighs.

“I’m feeling abandoned. It is disappointing. I get the vibe that he really can’t be bothered.”

EXCLUSIVE: Richard’s unanswered question following emotional split from Andrea

Even though Timothy is the host of this Homestay visit, Lucinda sets up a date in the hopes of talking things out.

Lucinda raises her concerns and says “it felt like a bit of a contradiction” after Tim said he didn’t want to see anybody. Now she’s feeling hurt that it looks like Timothy just doesn’t want to spend time with her.

“This whole experience I haven’t felt welcome, I’ve tried my best to come into your world but Tim you haven’t let me in,” Lucinda explains.

“Tim I find you very moody and I get it’s tough for you but at the same time I need to have fun.”

Still suffering from his emotional hangover, Lucinda’s hit of ‘feelings talk’ is the last thing Timothy wants to hear.

And it’s safe to say hair of the dog, is not the cure Timothy needs.

Timothy storms off from Lucinda and catches an Uber straight home.

It’s the final straw for Lucinda who has been left all on her lonesome.

Lucinda looks around, “What a sad state of affairs,” she sobs.

EPISODE 29 RECAP: Tears flow as two more couples leave the experiment

But just like everyone, Lucinda has her limit.

“I deserve better than this, I really do,” she finally takes a stand.

“I do adore Tim and I do wish him the best but what I’m getting and what he’s got to give, respectfully it’s not for me.”
