Married at First Sight on Channel 9 – These Married At First Sight weddings are one hell of a rollercoaster ride.

And tonight’s episode is definitely a scream-worthy affair for one groom, as his big day is completely derailed by a very protective family member.

The dreaded Honeymoon Honesty Box also makes a grand return, and it unleashes some shocking truths for our newlyweds.

Stream every episode of Married At First Sight for free on 9Now.

With that being said, grab your confetti… we have a wedding to attend!

Ellie and Ben’s Wedding Day

Ellie, 32, has anticipated the arrival of her wedding day before. She was previously engaged to her partner of six years before he told her didn’t love her anymore.

While Ellie was busy cancelling all their wedding plans, she found out her ex had moved on and was having a baby with another woman.

The nurse says she just wants the “average Australian dream” and is ready to settle down and have children.

The experts are confident that definitely above-average tour guide Ben, 39, could be Ellie’s Mr. Right.

EXCLUSIVE: Michael recalls the ‘devastating’ moment he was told his groom had quit

He’s travelled the world and admits that long term relationships weren’t always front-of-mind, but since the life-altering death of his best friend his priorities have shifted.

“I want 2.3 kids, a house, that’s the Australian dream,” Ben says.

They haven’t even met and Ellie and Ben are already in sync. How sweet!

The commonalities continue when the pair meet at the altar. Ellie and Ben are both a giddy mess as they talk of their love for travel and their hopes to start a family.

“I’ve had a great first impression, I would not be laughing and smiling otherwise,” Ellie beams.

EPISODE 3 RECAP: John Aiken tells devastated groom his match has quit while another gets the ick over his new bride

But Ellie’s cousin Jordan knows that her tendency to wear rose-tinted glasses can sometimes be blinding.

Like a cat eyeing up an innocent ball of yarn, Jordan is ready to pounce.

Within seconds, Ben’s interrogation mission begins. He gets the ball rolling with a pretty stock standard question: “What do you do for work?”

“I do tour guiding and I do my podcast as a hobby,” Ben explains with a breezy smile.

At that moment Jordan chokes on his own tongue. “Oh, you have a podcast?” he wheezes.

MAFS 2024
Podcast you say? That’s enough cause to raise eyebrows. (Nine)

The word ‘podcast’ echoes over and over in Jordan’s mind, and he concludes that Ben isn’t just filling the world with some happy travel tales… he has an ulterior motive.

Jordan thinks Ben isn’t looking for love with Ellie but instead hoping to use his screen time for a few thousand podcast subscribers. As if anyone’s ever done that before!

“I can always see the red flags in people and I’m getting bad juju vibes,” Jordan declares. “[Ben] is a bit slippery.”

As you do with most slippery surfaces, Jordan proceeds with caution when it comes to Ben.

He is taking no risks and whisks his cousin’s new groom away for a one-on-one grilling.

“I’m gonna be frank with you, I have concerns you’re just here to promote your touring business, promote your podcast, you’re just here for fame,” Jordan says, cuttingly.

Ben gets how it looks. He’s adamant he’s here for love… but a cheeky bit of promotion would be a “silver lining”.

Jordan is no more reassured about Ben’s intentions after he reveals he’s applied for MAFS multiple times and was approached to go on another show.

EXCLUSIVE: MAFS’ Mitch Eynaud on his biggest ‘regret’ as brother Jayden ties the knot on MAFS 2024

He sees red, convinced Ben is more into screen time than a long-lasting relationship.

The protective cousin rushes over to tell Ellie of the red flags he’s discovered and she admits she’s “nervous”.

But as an eternal optimist, Ellie says she’s choosing to see those red flags as just a “little amber flag”.

Will Ellie be right about her groom or will cousin Jordan have the ultimate ‘I told you so’ moment?

Tori and Jack’s Honeymoon

From one rose-tinted glasses wearer to another, Tori is smitten with her muscled-up groom Jack and despite her bridesmaid’s earlier warning she can see only a bright future with him.

But the Honeymoon Box arrives just in the nick of time to give Tori’s glasses a clean.

In case you need to be reminded, the Honeymoon Box is filled with questions that are designed to help the couples get to know each other on a deeper level… but more often than not, it contain queries that target the couple’s pressure points.

The first question is up. “What are your deal breakers and why?”

As Jack answers the question by using phrases like “I demand respect” and “the man I am”, Tori still sees no red flags.

But when the matter of attraction comes up, the conversation becomes a little more difficult.

EPISODE 2 RECAP: One bride receives a chilling warning about her groom and a wild wedding is ‘abandoned’

As you may recall, Tori has been drooling over Jack following a few steamy make-out sessions while Jack has declared the couple are “not sexually connected at all”.

Big ouch.

Jack tries to spare Tori’s feelings when talking about his attraction (or lack thereof) for her, but he doesn’t do a great job.

“I’ve definitely had bigger sexual sparks instantly,” Jack tells Tori.

“With the mixed emotions running through my head the day I met you, I wasn’t going, ‘God damn, I want to get this girl in bed’.”

“I don’t think we had that [sexual spark] straight away.”

Jack tries to soften the blow by telling Tori that attraction “takes time” for him.

But thanks to the magic of television we learn that Jack might be telling a white lie as a clip of his audition tape flashes up on screen.

“I can tell within 10 seconds if I want to be physical with this girl for one night or three months or put a ring on it,” he says in the tape. Busted!

Jack continues to explain his need to build attraction by saying things like “I’m a fierce and passionate lover” and frankly, we want to cut our ears off.

Lucinda and Timothy’s Honeymoon

While it’s clear Tori and Jack aren’t ready to rip their clothes off just yet, somebody else is – the model at Lucinda and Timothy’s life drawing lesson.

“There’s no chance of me getting my gear off and somebody painting me,” Timothy says, confirming he will be keeping his kit firmly on.

Even though life-drawing isn’t Timothy’s first hobby of choice, he’s embraced it with open arms and he and Lucinda are having a ball.

But what’s that sitting on the table? Of course, the Honeymoon Box has arrived to shake up that easy breezy feeling!

Tim is a quivering mess as one of the questions makes him measure his level of sexual adventurousness.

To help him make it out the other side of this conversation, Tim opts to use an ice cream metaphor.

He says that his sexual flavour is definitely vanilla while Lucinda agrees she’s more of a peppermint choc chip.

But there’s no innuendo to hide behind when Lucinda and Timothy are asked about the sexual chemistry they feel for each other.

There’s no hesitation on Lucinda’s part as she calls Timothy “scrumptious” and expresses her desire to get close to him.

The look on Timothy’s face makes it clear that he’d rather go back to life-drawing classes than answer this question, but he eventually explains to Lucinda that he doesn’t feel any sexual chemistry with her “yet”.

Big emphasis on the yet.

“I genuinely feel like s–t because I know what rejection is like, and I just felt that I hurt somebody,” self-proclaimed ‘Tin Man’ Timothy glumly admits.

“I feel s–-t for [Lucinda] that she got paired up with me. I think she can do better.”

MAFS 2024
There might not be attraction there yet but there’s hope. (Nine)

While Lucinda is “deflated” about Timothy’s words, she promises to be patient to see if romance can blossom in future.

But will she be able to break down his walls, or is this ‘Tin Man’ too hard to crack?

This rollercoaster ride of an episode has left our heads spinning, and we’re ready to go again. Sunday’s episode can’t come quick enough!
