Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team as they mosey down to Mornington and unearth more of Melbourne’s great shopping and dining venues, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
In Mornington (Boonwurrung Country) Shane Delia begins his day fishing off Mothers Beach, with the help of Paul Pingiaro from Mornington Boat Hire, Bait and Tackle. He then takes viewers along the esplanade to one of Mornington’s favourite cafes, Lilo. Owner Mark Johnstone fills him in on the cafe style and the seasonal menu, before Shane heads back to Main Street to check out Ouest France Bistro and meet owner Cesar Henry.
Livinia Nixon goes shopping in High Street, Thornbury, (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). First up she checks out Perimeter Books, a specialised book store that focuses on photography, art and design. Up the road at the Think Thornbury gift shop she meets owners Maggie May and Joshua Moshe.
She finishes her shopping spree at Pastificio Sandro, an Italian grocer from the team behind High Street’s Umberto Espresso Bar, and sees how they do handmade Italian pasta with owner Marco Finanzio.
Madeline Spark is checking out things to do in Port Melbourne (Boonwurrung Country). At The Fruiterer’s Wife supermarket she meets owner Roxanne Cohen, then heads across the road to Brûlée Patisserie, the passion project of Mariana Chedid who opened this European Port Melbourne favourite in 2020. Finally, she’s off to Wool Baa, a specialty shop for knitting and crochet, hearing about the classes on offer from owner Kate Strikker.
And Todd Woodbridge is having a wander through the Melbourne CBD. At the State Library, one of Melbourne’s most beautiful buildings, Hannah Gorman takes him through its history and the current World of the Book Exhibition. Just a three-minute walk away, Todd finds Kumo Desserts, an eatery popular for its fluffy, cloud-like pancakes, and finds out what other delicious flavours are on offer from owner Jason Tan.
