Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now (15 September) – Join the Postcards team this week as guest presenter Kate Langbroek joins the show, at 3.00pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Kate Langbroek and her son, Lewis Lewis, take us to their favourite venues in St Kilda (Boonwurrung Country) for a chat about Kate’s new role as a My Room Children’s Cancer Charity ambassador, and the upcoming My Room Grand Final Spectacular on Thursday September 26, at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. Kate and Lewis visit some of their favourite haunts including Manu’s Bistro for a Sri Lankan inspired brunch, Cicciolina for classic Italian and lastly The Walrus wine and oyster bar. Along the way they chat about their special connection to My Room and Lewis’s own childhood cancer experience.
Madeline Spark is in Mentone (Boonwurrung Country). First up, she discovers Applehead Deli, a cute sandwich shop on Latrobe Street, where she meets owner Denis Arbatov.
From there she hits NONHQ in Cheltenham, the world’s first alcohol-free cellar door, for a tasting and a natter with the head of production, Rick Marson. Madeline wraps up with a slice of pizza at New York-inspired pizza joint Sunnyside Sliced run by Ali.
Livinia Nixon gets a sneak peek at the Australian Ballet Company’s new production, Oscar. While the Melbourne Arts Precinct undergoes renovations, the Regent Theatre (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) is the temporary home for the ballet, which will premiere Oscar this month. A new CBD location brings the company closer to Melbourne’s best dining venues, including Andrew McConnell’s Cumulus Inc. which is offering a free glass of sparkling to all ballet patrons.
After a meal and bubbles at Cumulus Inc., Livinia is off to the rehearsal studios in Southbank to meet artistic director David Hallberg and the team behind Oscar.
And Shane Delia is lapping up some beachside living in Wurtulla on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast (Gubbi Gubbi Country). First he checks out the latest Mater Prize Home up for grabs alongside the Mater Prize Home ambassador, Boyd Duff. After a stroll along Wurtulla Beach, it’s time for coffee while meeting owner Esther Bundellu and watching the surf at her Pocket Espresso Bar.
