Nine Queensland making good things happen at Mater – In true Queensland spirit, Nine Queensland is uniting with the community to help make more good things happen at Mater on Giving Day tomorrow (Wednesday).
Throughout the day, 9News Queensland’s Melissa Downes will introduce viewers to the extraordinary professionals behind the medical miracles of the world-class medical education and research centres that so many Queensland families are forever grateful for.
Downes will champion Mater’s commitment to compassionate care and encourage donations, big or small, to allow Mater to continue to deliver life-saving medical equipment, research, education and healthcare across the Sunshine State.
Better yet, all donations received before midnight on Wednesday will be tripled by Mater’s generous Matched Givers – a group of passionate donors and supporters who have a shared motivation to enhance Mater’s work and are proud to encourage people to give more.

“Queenslanders show up for one another and this Mater Giving Day will be no different. Knowing that contributions go a long way gives us all more of a reason to give.
“Donations will fund life-saving research for melanoma, provide improved treatment options for women diagnosed with breast cancer, fund new technology to support sick and premature babies in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit, and so much more.
“Mater holds a special place in my heart for bringing my beautiful girls into the world, so I’ll be giving as a gesture of gratitude for what they have done and what they continue to do.”
