My Way on Channel 9 Queensland and 9Now S12E3 – From the ancient craft of the forge to the stillness of a country paddock and the quiet focus of a martial arts master, this episode of My Way celebrates those who dare to dream differently, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Two-time world champion blacksmith and renowned sculptor Dan Davie forges more than just art. Through his company, Metal Masterpieces, Dan creates stunning works, but his most profound achievement is the ForgeAhead program. As co-founder, Dan harnesses the hands-on, transformative nature of blacksmithing to mentor at-risk young people. The demanding discipline of this craft teaches them resilience, patience and purpose, literally shaping brighter futures alongside the metalwork.
Acclaimed chef Jack Stuart, owner and head chef of Blume Restaurant, is challenging where world-class dining can take root. After honing his expertise on the global culinary stage, Jack returned to Queensland with an ambitious vision: a high-end degustation experience beyond the urban dining scene. Settling in the unassuming high street of Boonah, Blume is now thriving. It redefines convention and invites guests to discover exceptional culinary artistry in the most unexpected of places.
Meet Grandmaster Henry Sue whose remarkable story spans nearly seven decades.
Arriving in Australia in 1957 from China at the age of 12, Henry overcame hardship and racism, finding strength and discipline in kung fu. In a lifetime of dedication, he became one of the nation’s martial arts pioneers, earning the highest degree awarded in the Western world. At The Chinese Kung Fu Academy in Brisbane, Henry still teaches self-defence, instilling confidence, respect and cultural understanding in new generations.
Switching to the land, we find fourth-generation cattle farmers Paul and Sally Kennedy offering a rare window into authentic rural life. While searching for more acreage to expand their farm, they discovered a beautifully restored woolshed. Embracing an unexpected opportunity, it has transformed their remote property into an immersive country experience, Lanarium Retreat. Their leap of faith allows visitors to slow down, connect with the land, and experience a different way of living.
Meet these individuals who, against the odds, are inspiring change in their communities on My Way, this Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
