9NEWS’ NATHAN CURRIE TAKES ON THE BIRDMAN RALLY FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Adding to the weekend’s excitement, 9News sports reporter Nathan Currie will take part in the iconic Birdman Rally on Sunday, March 9, where daring participants attempt to soar across the Yarra River in homemade flying contraptions – all in the name of charity. Nathan will be raising funds for the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, a volunteer-led organisation dedicated to supporting children and families affected by cancer.
Nathan’s Birdman craft has been designed and built by 14-year-old leukemia patient Riley, with help from his local footy team. This heartwarming collaboration showcases the spirit of community, resilience and generosity that defines Moomba.
Lord Mayor Nick Reece said:
“The annual Moomba Parade is the perfect representation of this iconic event – big, bright and full of joy. Nine dazzling floats will be featured in this year’s parade alongside more than 1600 performers, musicians and dancers. No one is too cool for Moomba, so drop the pretence and join the fun at Australia’s biggest free community festival.”
