Beyond the Dream: Ice Breakers on Channel 9 to air 3 February – Witness the extraordinary journey of Australia’s snow and ice elite when Beyond The Dream: Ice Breakers – Chasing Olympic Gold premieres Tuesday, February 3, at 9.10pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Australia, a nation often defined by its world-famous beaches and scorching heat – the quintessential “sunburnt country” – has an unlikely success story at the Winter Olympics, winning six gold medals.
Beyond The Dream: Ice Breakers – Chasing Olympic Gold looks back at where these gold medals were won and celebrates the success of our underdog champions, showing how they have helped to shape the legacy of the current crop of stars.
We hear from the legends, Steven Bradbury, Alisa Camplin, Lydia Lassila and Torah Bright as they recount their triumphant paths to gold.
The Beyond The Dream series tells these stories in a way that hasn’t been seen before: you know the headlines, but do you know the story behind it?
The documentary will also offer exclusive, all-access to follow Australia’s brightest gold medal hopefuls as they travel the globe to prepare for their chance at Winter Olympic glory in Northern Italy.
We join Jakara Anthony in the year leading up to Milano Cortina 2026, as the reigning moguls champion aims to make history as Australia’s first dual Winter Olympics gold medallist. We also travel with Bree Walker, a college sprinter-turned-bobsleigh World Cup winner, to Austria as she hones her skills as a genuine gold medal chance for Australia.
The documentary also features aerial skiers Laura Peel and Danielle Scott as they navigate the high-stakes preparation required to compete on the greatest world stage.
Prepare to be inspired by the resilience, raw power and unwavering perseverance of our athletes and their untold stories. Beyond The Dream: Ice Breakers – Chasing Olympic Gold celebrates the indomitable Australian spirit and the relentless pursuit of Winter Olympics glory, tracking the progress of what is building to be one of the nation’s most successful Winter Olympics teams ever.
Nine Wide World of Sports Head of Creative and Innovation, Alex Rolls, said:
“The team heading to Milano Cortina is an elite group of remarkable athletes with even more incredible stories. How they are able to compete against the world’s best, away from family and friends for large parts of the year is nothing short of extraordinary.
Wide World of Sports has a commitment to telling premium long form stories…our thanks to the superstars, both past and present, who gave us their time so we can show Australia what it takes to become a Winter Olympic champion.”
Beyond The Dream: Ice Breakers – Chasing Olympic Gold is produced by Wide World of Sports and Good Shout, for the 9Network.
