Anti Social on 9 Podcast available now – 9News Perth presents Anti Social, a gripping new video podcast series on 9Now that dives deep into Australia’s social media ban for children under sixteen.
Hosted by 9News Perth Executive Producer, Rachel Langdon, the series breaks down what this landmark policy will mean for families navigating their children’s online lives, for schools working to support student wellbeing, and for tech companies scrambling to meet a new set of expectations.
Langdon interviews those at the heart of the issue including kids, parents, school leaders, some of WA’s leading clinical psychologists, cybersecurity experts and social media analysts.
Their insights offer a rare, on-the-ground perspective on a reform that has sparked international debate.
Set to take effect on December 10, the new laws require social media platforms to take “reasonable steps” to stop under-16s from accessing a range of accounts.
Complementing the video podcast series, 9News Perth will also run special reports and interviews on 9News Afternoon at 4.00pm with Monika Kos, and 9News 6.00pm with Michael Thomson, giving viewers timely updates and expert opinion as the rollout approaches.
9News Perth News Director Michael Genovese, said:
“This is arguably the most critical social policy discussion facing Australian families today.
“We are all concerned about the safety and wellbeing of the next generation and our special coverage reflects that. It’s also breaking down what it means practically.”
By highlighting the real-world impacts, lingering questions and personal stories behind the headlines, Anti Social aims to help families and schools prepare for what’s ahead and spark conversations about how young Australians will navigate social media in a rapidly evolving digital world.
