2024: The Year That Was on Channel 9 with Amelia Adams – This Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now, join 60 Minutes reporter Amelia Adams for 2024: The Year That Was, a powerful look back at the events and stories that defined this extraordinary year.

In this one-hour television event, Amelia Adams navigates the triumphs, tragedies, and pivotal moments that shaped 2024, both in Australia and across the globe.

Unforgettable Stories of Resilience and Hope

From Australia’s record-breaking successes at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics to heartwarming moments of resilience, 2024: The Year That Was highlights the best of the human spirit. The program revisits Grace Brown’s golden triumph in road cycling, Mollie O’Callaghan’s domination in the pool, and Curtis McGrath’s remarkable third consecutive gold medal in para canoeing, all of which brought pride to the nation.

The program also delves into the courageous story of Professor Richard Scolyer and Professor Georgina Long, who turned the fight against cancer into a personal battle, with Richard becoming the first patient to undergo an experimental brain cancer treatment that offers hope for the future.

National and Global Events that Shook Us

2024: The Year That Was doesn’t shy away from the year’s darkest moments. It recounts the tragic stabbing rampage at Sydney’s Bondi Junction, the devastating youth crime crisis in Queensland, and the shocking revelations surrounding the CFMEU’s internal corruption scandal, which led to the resignation of John Setka and the overhaul of one of Australia’s most powerful unions. On the international stage, the program examines the escalating wars in Gaza, Israel and Ukraine, alongside the rise of tensions with China.

Politics, Power, and Shifting Leadership

Globally, the program examines the seismic shifts in political leadership, including Donald Trump’s unprecedented return to the White House and Keir Starmer’s landslide victory as the UK’s new Prime Minister. Closer to home, the election of David Crisafulli as Queensland’s Premier marked a turning point in addressing the state’s escalating youth crime crisis, providing hope for a safer future.

A Year Marked by Unprecedented Challenges

The program also explores the royal family’s challenges, including King Charles III and the Princess of Wales battling cancer, and the long-awaited return of Julian Assange to Australia.

A Must-Watch Event

Through exclusive interviews, gripping footage and insightful narration, Amelia Adams guides viewers through the year’s most defining moments. From personal stories of bravery to the global events that united or divided us, 2024: The Year That Was is a poignant reminder of the human capacity for both greatness and resilience.

Don’t miss this must-watch television event, airing this Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now
