Proudly supported by Principal Sponsor Universal Pictures, the studio will provide $15,000 cash per year for 2024 and 2025 to support the not-for-profit’s mission to provide financial assistance to female and female identifying screen executives to pursue professional development in their fields through attachments, internships, secondments, travel and other means to reach their full leadership potential.
Since 2012, 13 Fellowships have been awarded to Katrine Elliott (Founder, Art Screen Events), Genevieve Grieves (Co-creator and Creative Director of GARUWA); Dr Sian Mitchell (Senior Lecturer, Deakin University & Festival Director, Melbourne Women in Film Festival); Bridgette Graham (Consumer Insights Lead, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios and Founder, Path to Audience); Pauline Clague (Founder and Artistic Director of Winda Film Festival); Anna Kaplan (Co-founder / Head of Impact Production, Regen Studios & Co-Founder/Board Member, Sustainable Screens Australia); Miriam Katsambis (VP Business & Legal Affairs APAC, Lionsgate); Kristy Matheson (BFI Festivals Director, British Film Institute); Sasha Close (Head of Marketing and Business Development, Mercury CX, Director of Skipping Stone Media, and President, Natalie Miller Fellowship); Courtney Botfield (Producer and Founder, Denim Pictures and Distribution and Marketing Specialist, CB Consulting); Rebecca Hammond (Former Post Production Manager and Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Deluxe); Harriet Pike (Chief Operating Officer, WildBear Entertainment); and Rachel Okine (Head of Scripted, ABC).
The Natalie Miller Fellowship is unique in its role of passionately promoting female leaders across the spectrum of the Australian screen sector, and as a support network for women in the industry.
Its vision is to achieve gender diversity in screen leadership, resulting in a greater breadth of storytelling, better company performances, innovation and a dynamic, inclusive and robust industry for everyone. The Fellowship delivers significant benefits to both the applicant and wider Australian screen community.
President of the Natalie Miller Fellowship Sasha Close says:
“For 14 years, the Natalie Miller Fellowship has played a pivotal role in advancing the leadership aspirations of women across Australia’s screen industry, through both our annual fellowship and recent Catalyst Grants. As we mark this significant milestone, it is an opportune time to reflect on our impact and evolve our offering. In 2025, we are proud to expand our commitment by offering two annual fellowships, strengthening our investment in the future leaders who will shape and redefine the screen sector for years to come. We are seeking proposals for leadership and professional development that are not only innovative and tailored to each applicant’s unique vision, but that also contribute meaningfully to the broader Australian screen industry.”
