Aimee Huxley Announced as 2024 SPA Leadership Diversity Mentee – The Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Council today announced Senior Production Manager Aimee Huxley as the recipient of the 2024 SPA Council Leadership Diversity Mentorship. The Mentorship, launched in 2021, provides a SPA member from an underrepresented group or background with the opportunity to be mentored by the SPA Council and participate in bespoke skill development activities to create a pathway to leadership roles within the sector.

Aimee, who proudly identifies as part of the visually impaired community, has extensive experience as a production coordinator and manager in the UK and Australia, with her credits including Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild (2017-2023), Our Yorkshire Farm (2018), The Biggest Little Railway in the World (2018), and MasterChef: The Professionals (2015), and she will soon be returning to Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia to work on Who Do You Think You Are. Accompanying Aimee in work and life is her Service Dog, Joey, who is trained and certified by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.

She intends to use her Mentorship to raise awareness and advocate for visually impaired, disabled and underrepresented groups within the community. She vows to engage in activities, events, work, content creation and education that will empower, inspire and motivate screen industry workers of varying abilities and backgrounds.

Aimee would like to narrow the diversity gap by supporting growth and inclusivity within the screen industry, alongside SPA and SPA Council Vice-President, Suzanne Ryan (CEO & Executive Producer, SLR Productions) as her mentor.

“A huge congratulations to Aimee for securing the 2024 Leadership Diversity Mentorship. Aimee already has extensive experience working on feature and short films, music videos, commercials and television programs, and I have no doubt this Mentorship will take her career to new heights. SPA is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive screen industry, and this Mentorship program is just one of the initiatives we have established to meet this goal,” said Tracey Vieira, President of SPA.

“Throughout the past two years, the Leadership Diversity Mentorship program has supported several talented individuals to enhance their career in the screen industry. I am thrilled to be working with Aimee and excited to watch her professional growth over the course of the next 12 months,” said Suzanne Ryan.

Previous recipients of the Mentorship are Tsu Shan Chambers (Wise Goat Productions) (2022) and Stephanie Dower (Freelance producer, writer, consultant, and speaker) (2023).
