Portrait Artist of the Year on ABC and ABC iview S1E7 – The pressure is on in the semi final as the winners of our heats are joined by a wildcard chosen by our judges.
Seven talented artists return for the semi-final of Portrait Artist of the Year, each given four hours to capture the likeness and spirit of legendary science communicator Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, who brings with him a meteorite with a personal story as his special item.
As the artists employ a range of techniques and mediums, they navigate the challenge of portraying Dr. Karl’s energy and curiosity under intense time pressure.
The judges deliberate over the portraits, ultimately selecting three finalists to advance to the Grand Final, while Dr. Karl himself chooses his favourite to take home.
