Barnaby’s long-awaited family curry night is interrupted by gruesome news from Causton Grammar School, where strict headteacher Estelle Hallis has been murdered.
And there are plenty of witnesses: Estelle was skewered by a javelin during an online Parent Teacher Association meeting, in full view of everyone on the call, even though the killer remained expertly hidden, off camera.
As the case intensifies, Barnaby and Winter must navigate a world of school politics, discovering that parents, teachers and pupils have one thing in common – a capacity to keep secrets.
