Back home in Barellan grieving her father, Evonne finds clarity in family and country. She reconnects with Roger, confesses her love and marries him before Wimbledon. Vic retaliates by leaking false claims that Evonne fires him.
After the birth of her daughter Evonne returns to competition but her body begins to fail her and doctors recommend retirement. Even Roger urges her to stop.
Evonne reaches the Wimbledon final against Chris Evert. No mother has won the tournament since 1914, and a rain delay threatens her momentum. In a gruelling tiebreaker she draws on her heritage, her family and the memory of her father.
