Abbey Gelmi to host ABC’s Offsiders – The ABC is thrilled to announce acclaimed television presenter and journalist, Abbey Gelmi as the new host of ABC’s iconic sport panel series, Offsiders.

Kicking off a new season from Sunday 2 February at 10am on ABC TV and ABC iview, Offsiders will continue to unpack all the action both on and off the field in 2025.

As one of Australia’s leading sports media figures, Abbey brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for sport to the ABC. She presents sport for 7NEWS Melbourne and has covered some of the world’s biggest sporting events including hosting the Summer and Winter Olympic coverage, the Commonwealth Games, AFL, cricket, motorsport and horse racing.

Abbey Gelmi said

“I’m thrilled to be joining Offsiders in 2025. The opportunity to talk all things sport with the calibre of panellists who frequent the show is both exciting and humbling. It’s an honour to follow those who have hosted before me and I can’t wait for the early Sunday mornings!”

ABC’s Head of Entertainment, Rachel Millar said

“We are so excited to have Abbey joining the Offsiders team. The shoes she’s filling are substantial, but Abbey knocks it out of the park in terms of qualifications. In the show’s 20th season, we’re delighted to have another strong female voice in the chair leading the conversation on the week’s biggest sporting issues, with the best brains in the business. We are so impressed with Abbey’s passion, she lives and breathes sport of all codes. We can’t wait to see what she does with the show.”

In 2025, Offsiders will continue to bring together Australia’s leading sports writers, commentators and athletes to examine the big issues and major results in sport across the country and the globe.

There’ll be no shortage of action and analysis with coverage across a host of sports and major codes including the Women’s and Men’s Ashes, British Lions tour, State of Origin, and more. Offsiders will also travel to be part of the AFL’s Gather Round and the NRL’s Magic Round.

Offsiders returns Sunday 2 February at 10am on ABC TV and ABC iview.

About Abbey Gelmi

Abbey Gelmi is an acclaimed television presenter and journalist.

Originally from Perth, Abbey has quickly established herself as one of Australia’s leading sports media figures. Now residing in Melbourne, she presents sport for 7NEWS Melbourne and Seven’s AFL halftime and post-game show, having previously hosted Logie award-winning prime-time Summer and Winter Olympics coverage, the Commonwealth Games, cricket, motorsport and horse racing at the network.

Alongside good friend and fellow journalist, Georgie Tunny, Abbey also hosts the weekly sports podcast ‘Two Good Sports’ (iHeart), where the duo have quickly climbed the ranks to be the leading female-led podcast in the Sports category.

Granddaughter of Olympic Gold Medallist Herb Elliott, sport has always been a passion of Abbey’s which shines through in all she does. Previously Abbey was the breakfast host at Fox Sports News, where she covered breaking sports stories nationally from the 24-hour news desk.

Relishing in live events, Abbey Gelmi has been part of the host broadcast team for the Brownlow Medal, the Cricket Australia Awards, NBL Awards and the GQ Man of the Year Awards.

Her diverse skill set and popularity onscreen lead Abbey to become the host of the Seven Network’s House Rules; High Stakes alongside Jamie Durie.

Academically, Abbey set the foundation for her career to flourish.
