Vale | Jamie Dunn – The Seven Network is deeply saddened by the passing of much-loved television and radio presenter and entertainer, Jamie Dunn, 76.
The voice and puppeteer behind the iconic children’s TV character Agro, Jamie was part of the Seven family for many years, bringing his talent, generosity and sharp wit to beloved programs including Agro’s Cartoon Connection, Wombat and Boris’ Breakfast Club.
A staple of Saturday morning TV, Agro’s Cartoon Connection aired from 1990 to 1997 and was filmed at Seven’s Brisbane studios for most of its run. Hosted by Agro/Jamie and a series of co-hosts, it won seven consecutive TV WEEK Logie Awards for the Most Popular Children’s Program (1991 to 1997).
After leaving Seven, Jamie built a successful career in the radio industry. As a key member of B105’s Morning Crew in Brisbane, he led the station to a historic run of ratings wins.
Seven Group Managing Director, Television, Angus Ross, said:
“Thanks to the comic genius of Jamie, Agro became one of the most popular and unique characters on Australian TV, entertaining a generation of children and adults for many years. Not many people could turn a bathmat into a cultural phenomenon, but Jamie did – and we thank him for it.
“Our deepest condolences go to Jamie’s family and friends. Australian TV has lost a true legend.”
