7NEWS Perth enters a new era > Tim McMillan and Angela Tsun expand 6.00pm roles – 7NEWS Perth will enter a new chapter in 2026, strengthening its unrivalled position as the state’s most watched bulletin.
After a remarkable 40 years together leading Perth’s news team, Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon will transition to a revised presenting schedule in 2026. They will continue to co-anchor 7NEWS Perth’s flagship 6.00pm bulletins on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, remaining trusted and highly respected voices across WA.
From Sunday to Wednesday, Tim McMillan and Angela Tsun will take the helm, drawing on the strong audience connection they have built through years of presenting weekend bulletins.
Seven’s Director of News and Current Affairs Ray Kuka said:
“2025 was a celebration of Sue and Rick’s historic contribution to WA, with a world record of 40 years fronting a news bulletin.
“It was also a moment of reflection for Sue and Rick, and it became clear this was the right time to give them more flexibility, while ensuring the future of WA’s most watched and trusted bulletin – a news service they helped shape – continues to thrive with their enduring influence.
“Sue and Rick remain a central part of our on-air identity, and this adjusted schedule allows them to continue to contribute where their experience matters most.
“It speaks to the depth of skill and versality within the 7NEWS team that we have two newsreaders of Tim and Angela’s calibre to step up so seamlessly. They have been such a strong and united team alongside Rick and Sue, and we are thrilled this will continue.”
Susannah Carr said:
“We often get asked just how long we’ll remain in the role and now seems the right time to stay at the desk but start freeing ourselves up to enjoy life away from the studio more.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from delivering the news for 40 years, it’s that life can change instantly, so when change can happen on your terms, you run with it.”
Rick Ardon said:
“Viewers should know I’m still as hungry as ever as a presenter and also a journalist, always on the lookout for breaking news.
“We’re continuing our strong relationship with our loyal viewers, and I expect to be a news breaker well into the future.”
Tim McMillan brings more than two decades of reporting and presenting across Australia, including major national coverage, award-winning hosting of Flashpoint, and reporting that helped spark ‘Pep’s Law’ in WA.
Angela Tsun has spent over a decade with Seven, growing from a much-loved weather presenter into a respected, authoritative anchor known for her warmth, clarity and strong newsroom instincts.
Tim McMillan said:
“I’ve always admired Rick and Sue from when I was a young journalist to now presenting alongside them and I’m appreciative of their support as we take on this new challenge.
“They’ve taught us to care about every detail but most importantly how to be loyal to the people who matter most: our viewers,”
– he said.
Angela Tsun said:
“I’ve watched and respected the tenacity and inquisitive minds of Sue and Rick for so long. Watching them has helped me develop to a point where we’re ready for the future, a future we will approach together, and I cannot wait for 2026.”
Seven Perth grew its total TV audiences in 2025, not only in news, but through record-breaking Telethon results, another successful Christmas Pageant, and leading AFL coverage produced locally for WA fans.
Seven West Media WA CEO, Maryna Fewster, said 2026 was going to be a marquee year for Australia’s number one news channel.
“These small but exciting changes will ensure this team of talented professionals can continue our proud history of delivering WA’s best news bulletin,”
– she said.
7NEWS Perth News Director Christien de Garis said:
“While the faces on particular nights might be changing, the journalism will remain as strong as ever – our promise to WA is to deliver more of the stories that matter to you.”
Tim and Angela will continue filing stories for 7NEWS, with Tim also remaining on Money Talks. They will be supported by Ryan Daniels on Sport and Samantha Jolly on Weather, with Adrian Barich and Charlotte Goodlet continuing as part of the weekend team.
The new schedule begins on air on Sunday, January 18.
